Review: I hired Mr. [redacted], owner of Maestro Contracting, to renovate my house. We signed a contract outlining the work to be done. Mr. [redacted] was rarely at the job site to supervise his workers resulting in poor quality of work, many mistakes that had to be corrected, delayed timelines, and finally, unfinished work. Of our $45,000 contract I have already paid $41,650 plus another $2562.14 of Home Depot charges that I was not responsible for and was promised reimbursement. He recently emailed me a list of never before mentioned charges totaling over $4000 dollars (most of which was included in the original contract price). He repeatedly hired a single day laborer to complete the work of licensed subcontractors, including the plumbing and electrical work, which resulted in poor workmanship that in most cases has had to be corrected, and also resulted in my basement being flooded by a plumbing back-up. Mr. [redacted] also has also far exceeded the timeline that was in our contract. I was also told if I moved out before construction, which I did, this timeline would shrink, but the job is no where near completion. The rear of my home is missing siding and exposed to the elements, my rear steps are non-existent, my rear cellar doors are missing, I have no flooring in my home, the floor moldings that were installed need to be removed to install the wood flooring properly. Also there are no finishings installed, such as cabinets, soffits, lighting fixtures or plumbing fixtures. I continuously emailed and voiced my concerns to Mr. [redacted] to no avail. When we came to a disagreement about money owed, no workers showed up at the job site for three consecutive days. I assumed Mr. [redacted] was not coming back, so I changed the locks to protect my home and told him he would hear from me in writing.Desired Settlement: I do not want the remaining work completed by Mr. [redacted]. He has proven to be untrustworthy, largely incapable of properly completing work the first time and doing so in a timely manner. I would like a refund for the major work that Mr. [redacted] failed to complete. This includes installation of hardwood floors, installation of siding to the rear of my house, building the rear entrance steps, and installing an exterior cellar door. As per our contract, I have already paid for this labor and materials, with the exception of the cellar doors (which I was told were on back order for weeks but never received). I estimate the remaining materials and labor to be between $7000- $10,000. Home Depot quoted me $5000 for flooring and installation alone.
