Maggie Mays Bar and Restaurant

Review: On April **, 2013 I mailed a check in the amount of $150.00 to [redacted], the owner of Maggie Mays, as per his instructions, to reserve a room for my son's birthday party on May [redacted]. I was assured that the check would be returned on that day. On May [redacted], my guests arrived but my immediate family and I got stuck in horrendous traffic on the ride down from New England. We arrived late. We brought our own cake and didn't stay any longer than the agreed upon time. After the cake, we all began to leave the restaurant. I paid the waitress in cash and gave her a $30.00 tip. I apologized for not having more and told her I'd return with another $20.00 within the month. We did not get the dessert we paid for, nor did my guests respond favorably at all to the overall experience. $30.00 would have been most appropriate! Apparently she complained and [redacted] took it upon himself to deposit the check that was meant strictly for reservation purposes! This absurd decision cost me a $30.00 fine from the bank. Even at this point, I thought it may have been an accident and called with the idea that he could just return the darn check and give the waitress the $30.00 he should be repaying me. But, instead, he called my husband and said it was not accident that the check was deposited and he was annoyed that it was returned!!!!!!!!!! My three following phonecalls were never returned. I understand now why they were the only restaurant with availabilities on short notice! The upset this has caused can't be put into words.Desired Settlement: I want the difference (appx. $35.00) for having paid but not eaten (or even served) the dessert; the $30.00 charge I received from my bank and MY CHECK!!

On May [redacted] the [redacted] booked Maggie Mays restaurant for their son's birthday.

While most of their guests arrived on time 3pm the [redacted] with their guest of honor arrived an hour and a half late due to being stuck in traffic.

[redacted] and [redacted], Maggie May's waitresses served and entertained the [redacted] guests until their arrival. When I was informed that the [redacted] had gotten stuck in traffic on I-95 I extended their party an extra hour at no charge.

During the event the [redacted] and their guests received top of the line service as well as top quality meals. both which were raved about as the [redacted] guests departed.

Since the [redacted] had brought their own specialty birthday cake, it was served and the chocolate mousse cake was offered for them to take home but they declined as they were heading back to New Hamphire.

The bill for the affair came to $678.33 for the party of 25 guests. The gratuity as stated in our broshure is 20% of said total which would amount to $125.60.

When [redacted] paid the bill she stated she had only $42.00 on her for the gratuity but she was going to attend another function at Maggie Mays the following week and would give [redacted] the remainder of the gratuity owed. But this never happened.

At the end of the month our bookeeper inadvertly desposited [redacted] $150.00 deposit check by mistake which was returned for insuffient funds.

I received a call from [redacted] who wanted to know why we deposited check. I then explained that it was by mistake and apologized for the foul up.

I then reminded him that the remainder of the gratuity was not payed and that I had to reimburse my waitreses [redacted] and [redacted] the difference of the difference of $83.00
