I am rejecting this response because:
I am not coming up with more complaints as I go! I am just countering your statements with facts
It is true that I didn't mention the front end noise when I
came in because I simply asked you to replace the rotorsI did not ask you to
check them. I assumed the noise was the
beginning of the rotors going bad.
However, the fact remains
that AFTER the five minute test drive, the mechanic showed me a brake pad that was severely cracked and looked as if it had been hit by a
hammer, not the pitted brake pads he later claimed to have shown me when I
came in to complain
All my suspicions
hinge on this FACT
And when I kept asking about the cracked brake pad, my
comments were ignored and he continued to talk as if he'd shown me pitted brake
pads, even after I drew a picture of the cracked pad.
After the test drive, you said the brakes were "still
pulsating." That can't be true! First, the brakes were never pulsating when I
brought the car in so how could they start pulsating after a test drive on NEW
rotors. That just cannot happen
And you outright lied
when you said "we took her out and showed her the pitted rotors and bad pads." That never happened.
I do not blame you for not noticing the torn boot on the axle
since you were concentrating on the rotors and pads. However, I now know that the bad axle was
causing the sound I heard, unfortunately, I never mentioned the noise at the
time I brought my car in. I should have
given you the opportunity to investigate what was causing the sound every time
I made a left hand turn. But I am
puzzled why the mechanic didn't hear the noise that I heard when he was test
driving the car. I actually came back
that afternoon to have you look at the front end again because I still heard
the same noise, but you were too busy so I went elsewhere to have it checked
Your order history shows the brake pads were ordered at
10:am. If that's true, why didn't I hear
the clerk order the pads on the phone or see the pads delivered by Federated
Auto Parts? I would have noticed the
delivery car. Is it possible you
fabricated an order history? I don't
know. I did notice that the previous
orders for three items had an account number listed, but the order for the pads
did not. When I've caught you in one very obvious lie, it's hard to trust anything you say or do
Following are the reasons I am suspicious of your repairs: I am convinced that any certified mechanic would
have seen the damaged pads when he removed them in order to replace the rotors!
The mechanic did not take me out to the
garage to show me the pitted rotors and bad pads, he brought one brake pad into
the waiting area to show me. If I had
been shown the bad pads and rotors while they were on the car, I would not be filing
this complaint
When I returned five days later to complain, he
tried to convince me that he had shown me two pitted brake pads after the test
drive when, in fact, he originally showed me one severely cracked pad. No one tried to explain how that happened. My repeated questions were ignored
I never heard the clerk order brakes pads when I
was in the waiting room and I never saw a delivery car
You said the brakes were "still
pulsating" after the new rotors were on the car. Impossible on NEW rotors. Bad brake pads would grind, not pulsate.Your mechanic did not spend an additional hour
replacing the brake pads. (I arrived at
your shop for my 10:appointment and left a little before 11:30. (Your clerk will remember this fact because I
was anxious to get out in time to meet some friends for lunch at 12:in
Akron. So you did not spend an extra
hour replacing the brake pads as you claimed.)
I believe my concerns and questions about your repairs are
valid My gut tells me something is not
right
It seems you keep trying to come up with more flimsy excuses
as you go
In over years of car repairs at many different garages, I
never once felt suspicious of those repairs.
This is the first time I've felt it necessary to file a complaint with
the Revdex.com
Since you did not charge for an extra hour for labor, I will
be satisfied if you refund the price of the brake pads including tax ($55.49)

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/12/09) */
This was submitted before we were able to fix the situationEven though the customer was well aware the Sante Fe was AS-IS, we backed it out and upgraded them into a Chevy Trailblazer as soon as we go into the office on 12/05/AGAIN,
THIS COMPLAINT WAS FILED BEFORE WE FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS ANY ISSUE AND WE WOULD APPRECIATE IF IT DOES NOT MARK AGAINST OUR RECORDIf there are any other questions please contact us
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (2000, 7, 2015/12/12) */
(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)

On 4/21/Ms*** came into our service department asking for a quote to replace her front rotors onlyWe provided her a quote of $which included the rotors and one hour of our $per hour labor rateShe agreed to the price and we performed the workUpon the test drive our
technician noticed that the brakes were still pulsatingHe pulled it back into the shop and inspected the pads that were installed weeks priorThe pads were ruined from her brother just installing pads on bad rotorsAt that time we took her out and showed her the pitted rotors and bad padsShe agreed to the extra cost of the brake pads to make it rightShe forgot to mention in her complaint that when these pads were installed weeks prior the installer severely bent the caliper brackets (which we fixed at no extra charge)The caliper slides were also never greased when they were installedShe asked why we never ordered pads originally, it is because she asked to only have rotors replaced not padsWe could have just installed the rotors and sent her on her way, but it would not have been rightSo the questions we have to ask why did her brother not replace the rotors? Is he certified to perform these repairs? WE DO NOT CHEAT OUR CUSTOMERS OUT OF MONEY OR REPAIRS Most importantly WE DID NOT CHARGE HER A DIME FOR THE EXTRA HOUR WE SPENT ON HER CAR! If we were taking advantage of her why would we do it on a $set of brake pads? Most shops would have charged her more labor to install the padsThere is a reason why she decided to do the work with us, we offer fair pricing to our customersIf you put a brand new pad on a bad rotor the new pad will go bad after weeks of drivingAlso, when she was originally in she said the pads had been installed "a few days ago" she failed to tell us it had been over a monthIf we would have known it was that long ago we would have inspected the padsWe will not be refunding any money, because we performed a service and did it the correct way

I stand by our original response. It seems she keeps trying to come up with more complaints as she goes. She paid us to replace pads and rotors, We replaced pads and rotors. If she would have asked for our 120 point inspection she would have had to pay an additional $80. Front end noise was never brought up in the initial conversation, so we did not inspect the axle's. Since she doesn't trust our judgement we would have probably been accused of lying and upselling if we would have told her the boot was torn. I HAVE ATTACHED OUR FEDERATED ORDER HISTORY FROM 4/21 PROVING IN FACT THAT WE DID REPLACE THE PADS AND ROTORS ON HER CAR. If what she is accusing us of was our standard practice, we would have thousands of Revdex.com complaints. We are very sorry she feels this way, but it is simply a false accusation and is not fair to us.  Thank youMike K[redacted]330-825-7785
