Magic Masonry Reviews (1)

Review: Walkway after 3 weeks left incomplete, uneven, and unflush with the driveway. Incorrect grading, paver cuts and design.

Walkway incorrectly graded at both the top and bottom. Gaps left between the porch and walkway and lip of pavers uneven with driveway. Top of walkway incomplete with uncut pavers unsecured. Uneven borders of both the walkway sides. Pavers on bottom of walkway need to be lower to make them even with the pavement so as not to trip walking up walkway. Right side of walkway uneven with steps. This is after contractor "second attempt to fix".Desired Settlement: Would like the $1300 back of labor cost so that we may hire another mason to fix walkway errors.

After finishing job customer met me an I was paid with NO mention of any problems,I stated if they didn't like how the sidewalk met driveway I would change it...customer should have then filled in and graded their yard,I then could have put finish touchn on job...after trying to fix I was yelled at put down an called names...then I left husband message that I was willing to meet to try an make them happy an again was met with derogatory statements an pretty much told it would be a waste of time...so that's where we stand..most of the problems from my standpoint is lack of communication an their expectations..thanx [redacted]

We had an expectation of a SAFE and COMPLETE walkway. The "finishing touches" this business is referring to are actually parts of the job that are incomplete. The walkway is missing polymeric sand, the stones are not secure, the stones are cut unevenly, and the grading is actually out of code for the town of Oxford regarding how it meets the driveway and porch. This walkway is a hazard and after two attempts to "fix this walkway" it is not in the interest of either party to allow further botches for safety reasons.I was unaware one should allow businesses "multiple attempts" to fix what they should have knowingly done right the first time. This business is clearly not capable of building a safe walkway that meets code and clearly takes no pride in its work. To leave the walkway as it stands now is clear evdence of this businesses' shortcomings and lack of qualifications unbeknownst to the homeowner at the time the job was ordered. I would like my labor money returned to hire a qualified mason to make these fixes. I have no problem taking this business to small claims court as the evidence of a hazardous and non-compliant with building code walkway is as concrete as the blocks it is constructed with. It is shocking that any licensed Masonry company would feel comfortable leaving it in the condition it is in. I would appreciate that this business keep thier uncontrolled emotions out of this and speak clearly to the unfinished and hazardous work. This is business and they should conduct themselves accordingly.

I disagree with what consumer says..they took stairs apart which made job look unfinished I regraded bottom to meet driveway...I am willing to sand an finish bottom, rededo area in front of step in whatever way they want...other than that I think they are being unfair,,,mistating the facts an just being plain unreasonable...and if they have a couple of yard of top soil dropped off I will fill in an grade around sidewalk thanks Mtm

This business stated the walkway was done - as is evidenced by previous message. We have given them 2 chances to get it right. We are getting married in 3 weeks and don't have time to play - "Ill finish it next time games". We paid this business in FULL and they should have finished it in FULL. Period. Shame on them. We have since hired another mason to make these fixes - just looking for a refund at this point -and to make sure this NEVER happens to another hard working couple.

I continue to disagree with customer an since they don't want to work this out they only prove my point that they are unreasonable and exaggerating the problems there is nothing more I can do..I have hundreds of satisfied customers an have NEVER had any complaints or problems like this,,,I am not perfect an have made mistakes that I always fix or take care of..thank [redacted]
