Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: Mr M [redacted] is a big liar I am going to address his points Point one: The job started on 1/5/not because I kept changing my mind but because he informed me he was doing other projects so he will rather start mine after the holidays Keep in mind that I gave him $10k on 11/29/so how could I have changed my mind for over weeks? Our verbal agreement was to use that money for supplies and his point about my family cooking everyday is trueHowever, we knew he told us the kitchen will take weeks to get done but it took him weeks Besides, he told me to pay him $15k which includes supplies and labor ($10k on supplies and $5k on labor so I do not know where his $25k estimate is coming from) We started to get frustrated because he will show up for a couple of hours here and there and there were numerous times where he failed to show up without any call I began to realize a few days after he started the project that Mr M [redacted] was incompetent and lazy who relied on one other person to do the jobHe was ALWAYS on the phone but the few times he worked, he was slow as a tortoiseWe needed the kitchen because he went over him week period and that's the bottom line Point Two: The cabinets were purchased in late January and they do not cost $as he eluded toI know this because I've already been to the place where he bought them and priced them He is saying it costs $but I don't even have a receipt to prove thatIn fact, I have been asking for receipts on everything he purchased and he has failed to do so Point Three: Yes, I wanted him to change my electric stove to gas and this part of the agreement we made in November of And he stated that should not be problem I do not know anything about permits or anything of that nature so as a contractor he was responsible of obtaining that if that's what the job required He NEVER told me to get any permit so his ascertion proves to me yet again how much of a liar he is The bottom line is he did not know how to do the job He even burst my pipe in the basement where the gas line was so I had a leak in the basement Thanks to MrM*** I never lied to my insurance company In fact, because he is a so-called contractor, he was the one who called them to tell them about the extent of the fire damage in my kitchen He faxed them an estimate of the job so if anyone lied then it's him I am not a contractor but a pharmacist I can not deny the fact that he helped me to get the money from my insurance to help rehabilitate my kitchen as he stated "...the money I helped him get".Point Four: There was no final straw for you I fired you! I did that ecause you are simply the worst contractor I have ever had to deal with You lied about everything and still keeps lying Well, the last time we spoke which was on March 9, 2015, you stated I owed you $3k but now you are saying I owe you $8k I do not know how you come up with these numbers You took weeks on a job that you stated will take you weeks BUT you still did not finish It took my contractor business days finish where you left of (not to mention he had to correct a lot of your errors) for your information Regards, [redacted] ***

I am rejecting this response because:  Mr M[redacted] is a big liar.  I am going to address his points.  Point one: The job started on 1/5/15 not because I kept changing my mind but because he informed me he was doing other projects so he will rather start mine after the holidays.  Keep in mind that I gave him $10k on 11/29/14 so how could I have changed my mind for over 5 weeks?  Our verbal agreement was to use that money for supplies and his point about my family cooking everyday is true. However, we knew he told us the kitchen will take 2 weeks to get done but it took him 9 weeks.  Besides, he told me to pay him $15k which includes supplies and labor ($10k on supplies and $5k on labor so I do not know where his $25k estimate is coming from).  We started to get frustrated because he will show up for a couple of hours here and there and there were numerous times where he failed to show up without any call.  I began to realize a few days after he started the project that Mr M[redacted] was incompetent and lazy who relied on one other person to do the job. He was ALWAYS on the phone but the few times he worked, he was slow as a tortoise. We needed the kitchen because he went over him 2 week period and that's the bottom line.  Point Two: The cabinets were purchased in late January and they do not cost $7200 as he eluded to. I know this because I've already been to the place where he bought them and priced them.  He is saying it costs $7200 but I don't even have a receipt to prove that. In fact, I have been asking for receipts on everything he purchased and he has failed to do so.  Point Three:  Yes, I wanted him to change my electric stove to gas and this part of the agreement we made in November of 2014.  And he stated that should not be problem.  I do not know anything about permits or anything of that nature so as a contractor he was responsible of obtaining that if that's what the job required.  He NEVER told me to get any permit so his ascertion proves to me yet again how much of a liar he is.  The bottom line is he did not know how to do the job.  He even burst my pipe in the basement where the gas line was so I had a leak in the basement.  Thanks to Mr. M[redacted].  I never lied to my insurance company.  In fact, because he is a so-called contractor, he was the one who called them to tell them about the extent of the fire damage in my kitchen.  He faxed them an estimate of the job so if anyone lied then it's him.  I am not a contractor but a pharmacist.  I can not deny the fact that he helped me to get the money from my insurance to help rehabilitate my kitchen as he stated "...the money I helped him get".Point Four:  There was no final straw for you.  I fired you!  I did that ecause you are simply the worst contractor I have ever had to deal with.  You lied about everything and still keeps lying.  Well, the last time we spoke which was on March 9, 2015, you stated I owed you $3k but now you are saying I owe you $8k.  I do not know how you come up with these numbers.  You took 9 weeks on a job that you stated will take you 2 weeks BUT you still did not finish.  It took my contractor 3 business days finish where you left of (not to mention he had to correct a lot of your errors) for your information.

Marc M[redacted]9:45 AM (1 hour ago)tome[redacted] gave me 10k as a deposit on a 25 k project. Job had a start date of 1/5/15 because he kept changing his mind about what he wanted. Point one, started the job and wanted to just rip out the kitchen and install a new one but that...

definitely wasn't the case. He wanted me to keep the bottom cabinets and stove in place so he could still cook. Now of course this was not agreed upon and I expressed my displeasure with this and told him it would really delay things (he obviously wasn't prepared to do a kitchen). We had to clean the kitchen everyday before work and they cooked everyday at 10am while we were trying to work (" I'm African that's what we do, we cook"). Point two, after finally picking the cabinets and counter tops which cost me about 7200, progress was made. I had already removed wallpaper and repaired and painted the walls and ceiling( $1500), installed 300 plus sq.ft of porcelain tile with a patern ($2400) and ran electric throughout the kitchen($2000). His family wouldn't stay out of the kitchen dislodging newly installed tile, frustrated out of my mind, I justfixed it so I could be done. Point three, he wanted me to install new gas line without a permit, lied to the insurance company about what was being done with the money I helped him get (talking to the insurance company). I wanted no parts of that. Point four, and the final straw for me was he bought the back splash tile and took it back saying he was cash strapped.  The only thing that wasn't finished was the stove and microwave installation ( because they weren't purchased) and the back splash and under cabinet lighting.  Would have purchased the microwave and stove if he gave me the money ( not paying for your job; paid over 1k for the led lighting and wire)I'm looking at 8k minimum that he owes me just because they always tried to get over on everything
