While working in my garage, two young guys walked up to me and asked if my cars had any chips in the windshieldsThey saw a few chips in both my car and my wife's, and started explaining that they could replace the windshields and include limo tint free to me, covered under insuranceI told them who my insurance company was and one of them continued small talk with me and before I knew it, the other had called my insurance company, told them that they were with me and put me on the phoneTo this point, I had not yet said, "Yes, you can do this work for me", but with insurance already on the phone and verifying that this was a recognized repair/glass shop, I went along with it After working through the insurance information, the guys scheduled a tech to come out the next evening at my home, so no inconvenience to meThey asked for some water, and I offered some bottled water, but they didn't think it was cold enough and asked for fresh cold water! A bit unprofessional, I think! I thanked them for scheduling the work, then watched them move on to the next house, slightly regretting what I'd gotten into When the tech arrived the next night, he and I reviewed some of the work to be doneWhile looking at the rear view mirror in my car, the tech asked, "Did the sales guys even think to suggest that we could come to your work and do this there? They always say that we can do this at night at your home, but now I'm missing dinner with my family"Sad story, and good point, but again not very professional So the work was done on both carsI noticed a sticker on my "new" windshield showing the date of a previous oil change, so obviously NOT a new windshieldOk, not happy about that, but it's a clean windshield with no cracks or chips, so we'll go with it Fast forward to two years later, and my wife is getting her windshield replaced again due to multiple chips/cracksSafeLite came out to do the work and noticed before even getting started that the VIN was scratched! This can only be done while the windshield is out, so guess who we can blame for a damaged VIN? We're working with the dealership to get a replacement VIN, but haven't heard if they will even supply it for this car yetIf they cannot, then this vehicle will become a "salvaged title", meaning that they cannot prove that the VIN matches the car, and the value of the car drops to around $at best Also, during SafeLite's repair, after removing the moulding, he noticed that the windshield wasn't even attached all around the sides! One section had over a foot of space where the windshield could be pushed from the inside to create a gap! The tech said that he was surprised it hadn't leaked! I strongly recommend that people STAY AWAY from this company!!
