Review: my husband and I hired m[redacted] moving to move all our belongings from long island to florida. when we first met with the owner tommy we had two concerns. one was my husbands racing bicycles and our chandeliers that we purchased and brought back home from morocco. tommy assured us we had nothing to be concerned about. on the day of the move my husband helped his workers and tommy assured me again that the chandeliers would be fine and he said the same thing in my previous phone calls to him. he tagged all of our things and we were meeting him in florida at the storage facility within the next ten days. when we met him at the storage facility we paid him over 7000 dollars in full before any of our items were taken off the truck. while everything was coming off and my husband was helping them again, my two chandeliers were broken. my husband called me at our condo and I spoke to tommy who said theres nothing I can do. when I asked him about the extra insurance we purchased from him he said they wouldnt pay the claim. I said you knew how we packed them and you tagged them and at no time did you say we did anything wrong with the packing and his response was I dont want to beat a dead horse. I was so upset but about 5 days later tommy called my husband and said he wanted to give us something back for the breakage because he didnt want us upset. since we paid over 1000 dollars for the chandeliers and flew with them back from morocco we thought 500 dollars would be fair. my husband called tommy 3 times and to this moment has not recieved a call back. this company was recommended to us and we are so disappointed and upset with what happened. in addition, when we moved our belongings from storage to our new house we found that our refrigerator was dinged and our computer table leg was bent. but most of all im so upset that with all the help my husband gave, the cash we paid and the extra insurance we paid for we ended up with ruined chandeliers that cannot be fixed. then for tommy to call saying he wanted to make this right and then never return our calls is not good business,Desired Settlement: to settle this matter to our satisfaction and for tommy to make good on at least paying half of the value of our chandeliers

yes she did have breakage of chandelier I personally delivered this customer when I did estimate they did not want to pay $200 for special crating they wanted to do it themselves. on the day of delivery there was no damage to crate when customer opened crate there were pieces of chandelier at bottom I did tell customer the reason for breakage was that it was not secured in crate it was tied to a bar on top and not secured properly in crate. I told customer when we pack chandeliers we tie them to crate to prevent movement which I showed them what problem was it was listed as packed by owner contents unknown,PBO,CU listed on inventory which I will be glad to send Revdex.com as far as insurance they declined extra valuation at orgion, coverage is .60 per lb which I discussed with customer at delivery they said that was un acceptable I also told them they could file a claim which they refused because of the coverage I also told them we are not responsible for the unprofessional way the chandelier was crated because there was no damage to crate the crate was covered with brown paper and was not visible for for inspection before loading it was put on top of load so that there was nothing on top of it it was up on top by it`s self. I also offered to help with the repair because customer was upset I was notified a week later that they did not want it repaired and were seeking $1000 from me for chandelier I told them I could not do that due to I did not crate it and if I crated it I would have no problem with it if I did crating that they did not want to pay for that service. I felt that I did everything to make this situation rite I will still entertain claim to be submitted to insurance company if they would like but again they chose not to pay us to crate chandelier and not take xtra valuation thank you thomas m[redacted] president [redacted]

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because mr m[redacted]'s response is simply not true. he did not offer nor did we decline him to pack our two chandeliers that were broken upon delivery in florida. there was no such conversation. we told him from the first time we met about the chandeliers which were still hanging in our home and he told us to just crate them. on moving day he could clearly see and was told that these were the chandelier crates. we did pay 200 dollars extra for insurance and in florida he told us we couldnt use the insurance because the company would reject the claim. mr m[redacted] did nothing to assist us even after we paid cash for the services with the extra insurance as well as my husband working side by side with them to move our belongings. approximately 4 days after our move was completed mr m[redacted] called my husband and told him he would be willing to try to work out something so that we would be happy. we told him that both chandeliers as he previously knew where from morocco and we had paid over one thousand dollars for them, actually we paid more than that. he told my husband to come up with a number and call him. we both decided that 500 dollars would be fair as they cant be repaired. my husband called mr m[redacted] three times and never received a return call and that is why we had no other recourse than to contact the Revdex.com. his response is not at all what occured. thank you [redacted] and [redacted]

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because until we receive the insurance papers and complete the steps to a resolution we would not trust that mr m[redacted] will do the right thing since he again never offered to go through the insurance company because he told us they would reject it. in addition he was told multiple times prior to the move about the chandeliers and knew how they were packed and he clearly saw them on moving day and he cleared them and tagged them. it was only when they were broken in florida that he tried to start saying something else and would not give us any paperwork for the insurance company. he continues to not tell the truth. thank you [redacted] and [redacted]
