Mai Nails Reviews (2)

Review: I went to Mai Nails on August 27th 2014. I was getting my nails done, and the lady that was doing my nails left without saying anything and started talking to another employee in another language (which is totally fine with me) after a while she wasnt responding or acknowledging me, and I started talking to another customer, and she asked how long I've been waiting so I told her almost 20 minutes now.. the lady then over heard me saying that to another customer and asked me to leave in a very rude manner. I took this very personally as there were many people around and she got loud at a point for no reason. I don't think anyone should be treated like that, especially since they truly didn't do anything.Desired Settlement: I would like an apology and a refund for the services that were lacking and incomplete.

Review: April 6, 2014:

To Whom it May Concern,

On March 24th, 2014 at 5:00 pm, my friend, [redacted], and I went to Mai Nails Salon on the South Hill in Spokane, Washington, to get pedicures. When we first arrived to the salon, I instantly noticed that the conditions inside the salon were poor. The floors appeared to be very dirty and the salon was extremely cluttered and disorganized. Before my pedicure, I used the restroom, which was absolutely filthy as well.

Within a few minutes, my friend and I were told to sit in the massage chairs, as our pedicures would be starting shortly. The technician removed my nail polish and trimmed my nails. She then used a rectangular-shaped pumice stone on the bottom of my feet (which really did not need to be used as there were no calluses on my feet). The technician used a lot of force and strength when she was using the stone. After scrubbing for a minute, I felt a sharp sting pass through my entire body. She then quickly put my foot into the tub of water in front of me. The water originally was blue, but after putting my foot into it, it turned bright red with blood. The technician looked up at me and I saw fear in her eyes. She slowly lifted my foot out of the water, and it started bleeding heavily everywhere. She grabbed several towels to try to stop the bleeding, but nothing was working. After several minutes, she was able to put a few bandages on my heel and the bleeding stopped.

I was in complete shock for most of the experience because the pain was so extreme. I was also very embarrassed, as the salon was packed with customers, who all saw the incident. While I was appalled at what I was most concerned with the way the technicians treated me. They did not say they were "sorry" one time throughout the entire ordeal and they made me pay $20.00 for the pedicure!

I immediately went to Providence Urgent Care to receive treatment for my heel, as a large chunk of skin and flesh was taken out of it by the pumice stone. The treating physician thoroughly cleaned the wound, as they were fearful that it could get infected and have consistently applied antibiotic to the injured area. Consequently, I have incurred medical expenses as a result of the negligence of the employee of MAI Nails and am entitled to recovery of damages commensurate with the injuries I sustained, which include special damages for the medical bills and expenses incurred in addition to general damages for the pain and suffering I have sustained and continue to sustain.

When I called the salon in order to start the claim process with them, they told me that they did not want to turn the claim into their insurance company because it would ultimately increase their rates. When I asked them what insurance company they had, they hung up on me. I am extremely dissatisfied with everything about this experience.Desired Settlement: I have incurred medical expenses as a result of the negligence of the employee of MAI Nails and am entitled to recovery of damages commensurate with the injuries I sustained, which include special damages for the medical bills and expenses incurred in addition to general damages for the pain and suffering I have sustained and continue to sustain. I also should be refunded the $20.00 I was forced to pay for the terrible pedicure. My medical bills totaled $136.00 and I believe I should receive something for pain and suffering.
