I would also like to clarify that when this customer initially set up the appointment, as always, I told her to run the self cleaning oven cycle the night before we arrive to cleanIt takes several hours for this process to completeShe stated that there would be some problem setting the self cleaning oven cycleI then told her that I could use oven cleaner on her oven and she said, you can use oven cleaner on a self cleaning ovenI told her that many of our customers prefer this oven the self cleaning oven cycle due to the heat and smellShe then emphasized that if we could clean her oven with oven cleaner that she would be happy to have us clean her house I told her about our oven cleaner and she was aware and gave our company permission to clean with this cleanserShe signed an agreement that stated that we would not be held liable for assumed damages or pre-existing damagesThe pictures of her ovenThe oven looked brand new in comparison to the way it looked before we beganThis is an old, well used ovenWe always neutralize the ovens with baking soda and dry before we are finishedSometimes the soda can leave a slight residue if it is wetFirst customer complained about the fanWe offered to hire a tech but then they didn't want that and the fan issue was no longer an issueThen it was pits exactly where the racks sitThen it was that we had hardened the sealWe did notI told her I would consider replacing the seal but she wanted me to file a claim with my insurance insteadThat is when I took this case out of my hands completelyThe insurance company said it was wear and tear, old and that the oven was useable as in, not broken and would not cover this claim. The customer signed a consent agreement stating that we (the company) would not be held liable for any pre-existing or assumed damages. The customer might not have been aware of the wear and tear of this older oven due to the fact that prior to cleaning it you couldn't view the surface of the interiorIt was blackThe first three pictures, the [redacted] ovenThe last is a newer oven that has been cleaned with the self cleaning oven feature only

I understand your concerns and I am happy to reimburse the customer the fair market value of the oven that is aged and in used condition if it is deemed that we are at faultWe were were given permission to use our oven cleaner on your ovenThe customer was made well aware of the chemical prior to having us clean their ovenI've attached a copy of the consent form that all of our customers sign prior to commencing servicesI have a signed copy of their consent formI know that I have minutes however, I will provide the consent form that was signed by the ***We clean according to specifications, that means that if a customer specifies and agrees to have their oven cleaned with our chemicals or any other way, we will do what they ask but only with this waiver of assumed damagesAll of our customers sign this form prior to commencement of services. The picture of the oven was the picture that our supervisor took when she was at your houseI don't think they all attached when I sent themThe picture I sent was an oven that had been cleaned by a self cleaning oven featureSelf cleaning ovens heat so hight that they often create a whole slew of damages.I will try to get pictures I tried to upload the last time. I specifically remember speaking with Mrs*** because this call made an impression on me that was unforgettableAlways, when asked if we will clean their oven, our customers are told to run the self cleaning oven cycle prior to our arrivalI ask this because we charge by the hour and if they do not run the self cleaning oven cycle it could add additional and unnecessary time to clean their ovenMy crew said that her oven was so dirty that you couldn't make out any pre-existing damagesMany of our customers don't want to pay for the additional time that it would take to clean an oven and run the cycle while some are afraid to run the cycle or state that it damages their oven when they do or that it doesn't workMany of our customers are leery when it comes to running the self cleaning ovenShe was aware of the type of cleanser we used and agreed to let us use this oven cleaner. Apparently, she had a team supervisor, Joey, reiterate the oven cleaning with our chemical again with her while she was presentAs far as him trying to convince her, he showed her the container, she read it and said ok and agreed to the additional time it would take to clean the ovenAgain, we charge by the hour Updated ovens could be considered upgraded in retrospect to the overall age of the homeThis would not be considered an updated oven in a brand new homeIn looking at the oven, there is no reason it would have an affect on the sale of the homeIt is well used and that is obvious considering the abrasion pits where the racks sitIf our oven cleaner did this, there wouldn't be a surface left to speak of. Most importantly, she did not run the self cleaning oven cycle for personal reasons and agreed to let our crew use our oven cleanerShe read everything on the can and told us to proceed. I hope the agreement all of our customers sign makes it throughI have the document that was signed by the ***. I wish I could be of more assistances, however, when we get a consent form signed and the customer agrees to our method of cleaning according to what they specify, we will do what our customers ask but that is not without saying that we will not be held responsible for assumed or pre-existing damages. The adjuster said the oven was still useableThe adjuster spoke with Mr.and Mrs*** and after hearing their statement they would not cover the ovenI told the insurance adjuster to call Mrand Mrs*** and I gave her information to Mrand Mrs***

Regards,
[redacted][To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, the consumer must give a reason why they are rejecting the response. If the consumer does not provide a reason the complaint will be closed Answered]Simple settlement.  The oven was 5 years old.  Average oven lasts 30 years.  That's 16 % of the life of the oven we used.  The retail price of the oven we purchased, same model, to replace was 2150. there about.  So that leave 1824.00 on the life of the "Old" oven.  Since we purchased the replacement at 1598.00 which is 229.00 we will save you.  You have our address and email.  Waiting your response.

Customer claimed that our oven cleaner damaged his oven.Fact: Our oven cleaner is safe for use on all smooth and ceramic oven surfaces and is stated so on the can. Their oven has a ceramic surface. The manufacturer is well known and stands behind their product. We have been using this oven cleaner...

since 2006 and have used it on hundreds of ovens and this cleanser has never damaged an oven before. We have seen older ovens with pits in the area where the racks lay from weight being placed upon the racks. After years of use, heavy weight, friction from sliding the racks and hight temperatures, the surface can wear down. This is an old oven. These pits that they are claiming our oven cleaner created can hardly be seen and they are under the racks toward the front where all the weight would be from placing items in on the rack into the oven and baking. This occurs after years of use. This is long a long term friction pit from the rack.  Oven seals often need to be replaced, sometimes as often as every two years based on how often the oven is used. The seal is the fabric that creates the barrier between the oven door and frame to keep the heat isolated. This information can be found on the web as well as the life span of these seals. The tech merely wrote the facts presented. They told him that oven cleaner was used in the oven. He stated that oven cleaner was used in the oven, his observation, pitted and rusted and stated that the seal needed to be replaced. He merely stated what he heard and the 'barely visible' facts but did not state why or how the oven was pitted. My insurance company would not cover this because our oven cleaner is deemed safe to use on their oven surface type as well as the fact that the oven isn't broken and can still be used. There is a generalized rule about oven cleaner being used in self cleaning ovens because years ago they made a porous oven that you could not use any type of cleanser in. Self cleaning ovens have come a long way since then and many oven cleaners are safe to use. Our cleaner does not pit glass, stainless steel, porcelain, ceramics, etc. I would think that if our oven cleaner had pitted their oven surface that it would have pitted it in all areas aside from just where the weight is bared under the oven racks. We noticed some very slight fading on the bottom of the oven after it was cleaned. The oven was too dirty to see the wear and tear until we cleaned it. The customer only noticed this normal wear and tear after the oven was cleaned and blamed our company for this.

I am rejecting this response because:1. I set the appointment not my wife.2. The conversation about running the self cleaning cycle didn't happen.  The cleaning function on the oven works fine.  Her statement is false.Joey called her to the ketchen and asked about using the oven cleaner.  She objected and Joey convinced her it would be ok.  The results indicate otherwise.3.  The attached picture is not our oven.4. The oven is only 5 years old.  This does not make it an old oven or worn out from normal wear and tear.5. There was an abjection to using the industrial strength oven cleaner on a residential oven.  6. The contract did not contain a waiver of damage caused by the contractor.7. Hillyard oven and grill cleaner. [redacted] The thick foam clings to vertical surfaces - no running, no dripping.
This product is also excellent for cleaning grills, rotisseries, stove
burners, electric frying pans, and other cookware that is resistant to
caustic.
8 Caustic is able to burn or corrode organic tissue by chemical action."a caustic cleaner"synonyms:corrosive, corroding, abrasive, mordant, acid "a caustic cleaner"[redacted]. Specifically states "Not for use on self cleaning or continuous cleaning ovens.Clearly the interior surface has been damaged by this industrial oven and cooking tool cleaner.10. The insurance is denying the claim based on the fact it's an old oven.  No visit from anyone from the insurance company, how did they determine the age and condition of the oven?11. The replacement over price was 1598.00.  The house is listed for sale with recent upgraded appliances. This is why I hired them to do a move out cleaning.  A rusted oven is not a recent purchased oven.  The damage was caused by using an industrial cleaner not designed for residential use.

She signed an agreement that stated that we would not be held liable for assumed damages or pre-existing damages. The pictures of her oven. The oven looked brand new in comparison to the way it looked before we began. This is an old, well used oven. We always neutralize the ovens with baking soda and dry before we are finished. Sometimes the soda can leave a slight residue if it is wet. First customer complained about the fan. We offered to hire a tech but then they didn't want that and the fan issue was no longer an issue. Then it was pits exactly where the racks sit. Then it was that we had hardened the seal. We did not. I told her I would consider replacing the seal but she wanted me to file a claim with my insurance instead. That is when I took this case out of my hands completely. The insurance company said it was wear and tear, old and that the oven was useable as in, not broken and would not cover this claim. The customer signed a consent agreement stating that we (the company) would not be held liable for any pre-existing or assumed damages. The customer might not have been aware of the wear and tear of this older oven due to the fact that prior to cleaning it you couldn't view the surface of the interior. It was black. The first three pictures, the [redacted] oven. The last is a newer oven that has been cleaned with the self cleaning oven feature only.
