Review: I paid my taxes and this office applied to taxes to the wrong year. I faxed over proof and not once did they fix it and put on the correct year. now they are going to lein the property, which I do not know what that means. however this is not the only tax place in [redacted] that applies the taxes to the years that the tax is not due for. the [redacted] has done the same and they do not fix it. instead they charge fines and more money. I should be paid up for the year 2013. yes I know owe for the year 2014 however, they last payment sent was appled to year 2014 instead. why is that....there secraty refuses to fix and wants me to keep calling her when they have done this with no real explanation. and I am being over charged due to my property is not listed correctly.Desired Settlement: I want the check that was used for 2014 to be put on 2013 and there should be no fees nor a lein. I will pay the 2014 tax, but they need to fix the 2013 tax correctly

Response:

I paid off my 2013 school tax. so I thought. the 2014 school tax was not due yet, I never received any late notices. an electronic check right from the [redacted] on 8/20/2014 in the amount of 570 which had a late fee on it. due to the payment slip stated if mailed of a certain date 570 had to be paid. I Paid that. then months later I got a notice stating I still owed. it was applied to the 2014 year instead. Not sure why, so I faxed all information over to Lisa A[redacted], she never fixed the account. now I am getting letters 2 years later saying 2013 was not paid off in full and now I owe 624.02 plus have to go to court and pay court cost and got liend. not sure what a lien is. I wanted this fixed and a new bill sent out for 2014. that never happened, no late notices, just a lein sent out right way. I contacted the office again in june to let them know this information above, and lisa a[redacted] just sent an email back stating we got all your information but you need to contact me. I did and she still would not fix it, and I am being over charge for school taxes on top of that. I pay more taxes then anyone on my street and I do not use the [redacted] school system. My property is listed incorrectly as well I want them to fix the 2013 taxes. they where paid in full and should state that. the fees and penalty need taken off due to I paid 570 dollars. I owe for 2014,yes I do not dispute that. I asked informed them that I could make a payment but I do not and will not have a total of 1670.02 to pay. I can pay it in 3 payments with in the next 4-6 weeks. and then [redacted] is going to pay the 2015. however, how do I really know theses payments will get applied to the correct year?

Response:

July 30, 2015[redacted]Revdex.com[redacted]In Re: Complaint by [redacted] ID No. [redacted]Dear Ms. Gasser:I am responding to the complaint received by your office and referenced as ID No. [redacted].Our office is the appointed Delinquent Tax Collector for the [redacted] School District. The Taxpayer's account was turned over to our office in May of 2014. Taxpayer chose to pay her 2013 School District real estate taxes in installments which were due September 30, 2013; November 30, 2013; January 31, 2014 and March 31, 2014. Due to Taxpayer’s failure to pay one or more installment payments, the account was turned over to our office. On June 3, 2014, an initial letter advising of the delinquency and the intent to lien the property if the 2013 taxes were not paid in full was sent to Taxpayer with follow-up letters July 8, 2014; a certified letter August 13, 2014; and because the certified letter was returned another letter via regular mail on September 12, 2014.On September 17, 2014, the Tax Supervisor for the account was contacted by an employee at [redacted] at the request of Taxpayer. In their discussions, it was determined that the referenced delinquent payment per the Complaint was sent to and processed by [redacted], the Current Tax Collector for the [redacted] School District and a separate entity from Maiello Brungo & Maiello, LLP. In their discussions, the fact was raised that because our office was already in possession of the 2013 delinquent account and because it was August of 2014, it was likely that the monies were applied by [redacted] to one of Taxpayer's 2014 real estate tax installments. The employee was advised to relay this information to Taxpayer and the need for Taxpayer to contact [redacted].Our office received a fax from Taxpayer on September 22, 2014. The Tax Supervisor attempted to discuss this issue with Taxpayer, leaving messages on September 22, 2014, September 25, 2014, September 29, 2014 and finally a detailed message on October 24, 2014. On December 18, 2014, a letter was sent to Taxpayer. No response was received.
