I purchased a set of tires for my wife's suv back in February of 2013 from Main Streeet Automotive. I paid just under 500.00 for a set of four tires and was informed they carried a XXXXX mile warranty against defects or other problems that may arise. The shop owner informed me at the time to come back should I have any issues with the tires and he would take care of it. We have only put XXXXX miles on the tires to date and one tire has now started to separate causing a very noticeable vibration when driving. I took the truck back to them on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 and explained the issue. The girl behind the counter informed me that they would contact the tire distributor and they would need to access the tire before the warranty could be satisfied. I agreed and asked that they set it up and let me know when the tire distributor rep would be there so I could bring the truck back in. After hearing nothing I decided to call them on Friday the 7th of October. The same girl at the counter now advised me that I would need to pay for a new tire until they heard back from the distributor, and tire manufacturer that they were going to cover the tire. I questioned this with them, and asked why I should cover the cost of a tire that they sold to me, and why they would not honor a warranty they assured me of back when I purchased the tires. She became hostile and when I informed her that I would have to spread the word about this bad business practice, she started yelling at me. Then, one of the co owners came out of the back and said he was going to throw me out if I continued to cause her any problems. I was not causing any problems other than asking why they would not honor a warranty on the tire they sold me. I left at that point. I went home and called the distributor that informed me of the warranty process. I am ok with having to send the tire back to have it checked out. The distributor notified me that it is up to the business to choose whether they want
to cover the cost of the tire or not. In this case, this business clearly has no interest in backing up their product with the customer. I would not recommend this business as they do not treat their customers with respect and threatened me when I challenged their business practice in this matter. The safety concerns with this issue are also not a consideration for them. What if the tire blew out and caused an accident. Not a concern with this business.

Had my truck repaired with a bill totaling almost 2000 dollars, currently truck is sitting in my driveway and won't start. On 3/9/16 I contacted Main St. Auto by phone to tow my 1999 Toyota Tacoma to them in order to replace the clutch, service the drive train, install new tires, install a new battery, replace the spare tire with one of the old tires and do an NC inspection. The truck was towed to them on the 3/9 at a cost of 60 dollars. I never received any form of estimate for the repairs either verbal or written and was never contacted by Main St. On 3/18/16 I went to the shop and made a 500 dollar down payment via CC on the repairs and was told they would call me with the total cost of the repairs.I trusted them to do this, they never did. After not hearing from them again for several days my wife who is currently living/working in Tennessee, called them on 3/25 to ask why there had been no contact, to which they said they had tried, as it turns out they wrote my phone # on the invoice incorrectly, she was very upset with the owner and words were spoken, the owner verbally abused my wife, called her some derogatory names and the call ended with my wife in tears. On 3/26 I called the shop to try and smooth things over, at this point the had my truck for 15 days and the service had yet to be completed the owner stating that I had to pay for the tires up front. I then paid the remainder of the bill of 1,275.68 in full via phone/CC and was told my truck would be ready 3/28. I picked the truck up after hours because I was working and took it home, it hadn't been inspected which needed to be completed before 3/31 in order to avoid a 200 dollar fine. I got it home, shut it off and it wouldn't restart. I did not feel that Main St Auto was at fault for this, it is an older vehicle, but I needed my truck.I called Main St. back and told them what happened and then spent 60 dollars again to have it towed there on 3/29. I got a call from the owner on 3/30 stating that they had yet to track down the problem, but they were working on it. I explained to him the dire need for the inspection they didn't do the first time. He said that he would get it right. I got another call from the owner on 3/31 that they found the problem was a fuel pump relay and they wouldn't have parts til 4/1. I approved the repair, but had to go out of town and didn't retrieve the truck until 4/5. I paid 260.19 via CC and discovered it still was not inspected and they hadn't changed the spare. The reason for no inspection was due to the battery change and the truck needing to be driven for X miles in order to clear emissions. At this point, they had my truck for close to a month, so I just took and went somewhere else to try and get it inspected. I went to another shop 6 miles away, shut the truck off and once again wouldn't start. Main St, sent a mechanic to start it with starting fluid, which it did. I hap it inspected but it failed due to not being driven, but at least I had documentation that an inspection had been attempted. I filled the truck with gas and drove it the rest of the day putting approx. 50 miles on it. Drove it home and parked it. The morning of 4/6 I attempted to start the truck and it wouldn't. I call Main St and tell them the truck still isn't fixed and I would like something done to remedy it. They tell me that they won't "fix it for free". I believe that after giving them a total of 2,155.87 in labor, parts and towing that my truck should work properly and all work requested, completed. They did not replace my spare, but did give me my old tire so I could do it myself, they did not attempt to inspect in order to avoid a fine, although I stressed this to them, they charged me for an oil change that I did not ask for and after looking over the truck, I found that the inspection cover on the transmission was missing.Desired SettlementI would like a refund for the last repair as it was not a repair. I paid them a total of 320.19 for parts, labor and towing and still have a non functioning vehicle.
