Main Street Remodeling Reviews (4)

My recent experience with Main Street Remodeling located in Arlington Heights was thoroughly unsatisfactory, from my initial dealings with their salesman (who led me to believe that an advertised discount was expiring on the day of our meeting, only to find out that it had been extended for a month), to their pricing (extraordinarily high for a straightforward demolition and installation job), to their lack of main office communication (their president was never available, despite several attempts to reach him), to a final reconciliation of what was owed as a refund In fact, the only effective intervention came when I contacted the head of Consumerism for [redacted] ***, who managed to communicate with Main Street on my behalf, and was gracious enough to compensate me for my aggravationReferencing their pricing, I was told that Main Street usually charges $to remove a small bathroom vanity - no plumbing involved - which they discounted to $and later re-priced at $344, and which wound up being a 10-minute job In explaining this outrageous charge I was emailed the following absurdity "we charge the same to remove a 13" vanity as we charge for a 103" vanity...these are fixed costs" This was attempted to be explained away by quoting higher overhead costs, but at $2,000/hour, their overhead must be equivalent to the Defense Department Buyer bewarePricing aside, my major complaint with Main Street is one of poor (or no) communication with their office starting from the time I signed the contract for remodeling bathrooms through the completion of the job Immediately following my signing of the contract I requested a detailed breakdown of costs for services I was requesting (labor and materials for each bathroom) The breakdown came hour after my day cancellation option, despite repeated requests to supply it The process was started on 2/24/and completed on 5/25/16, and only then due to my persistent follow-ups on the status of the project My frustration with Main Street continued beyond the project completion, since they were non-communicative on the status of my refundThe only reason that I initially acted without further investigation was that my husband became ill and required a handicap-assist bathroom, ASAP I was encouraged by the fact that Main Street had been recommended as a trusted vendor in my nearby [redacted] ***, whose reputation (and my past experience) provided the assurance that I needed to proceed In fact, as this experience has drawn to a painful end, the only saving grace is that [redacted] quickly and effectively intervened when repeated attempts to get satisfaction from Main Street Remodeling failed Contrary to the way Main Street behaved, [redacted] treated me with respect rather than disdain For all these reasons, [redacted] receives an "A" while Main Street Remodeling merits a solid "F"

My Name is LloydI want to say this company just did the entire wet area in my bathroom and they did an outstanding job! They took there time, there were very hard working, and they very much wanted to make sure I was pleased with there finished product as well !
This company by far is head and shoulders better that any remodeling company I have ever usedThey stand by there product, and make sure you "the customer" are okay with everything before they leaveI also felt like I could ask questions while there were doing the workThey did not get distracted and took the time to answer any concerns I hadVery good professionals at this company (Main Street Remodeling)

Nick and Greg couldnt have been nicer and more skilled. Did a fantastic job on my screen room. My biggest concern was the potential for leaks when they tore my roof apart to install the screen room ceiling panels. Had heavy rains a few days later and no leaks.

My recent experience with Main Street Remodeling located in Arlington Heights was thoroughly unsatisfactory, from my initial dealings with their salesman (who led me to believe that an advertised discount was expiring on the day of our meeting, only to find out that it had been extended for a month), to their pricing (extraordinarily high for a straightforward demolition and installation job), to their lack of main office communication (their president was never available, despite several attempts to reach him), to a final reconciliation of what was owed as a refund. In fact, the only effective intervention came when I contacted the head of Consumerism for [redacted], who managed to communicate with Main Street on my behalf, and was gracious enough to compensate me for my aggravation.
Referencing their pricing, I was told that Main Street usually charges $500 to remove a small bathroom vanity - no plumbing involved - which they discounted to $250 and later re-priced at $344, and which wound up being a 10-minute job. In explaining this outrageous charge I was emailed the following absurdity ... "we charge the same to remove a 13" vanity as we charge for a 103" vanity...these are fixed costs". This was attempted to be explained away by quoting higher overhead costs, but at $2,000/hour, their overhead must be equivalent to the Defense Department. Buyer beware.
Pricing aside, my major complaint with Main Street is one of poor (or no) communication with their office starting from the time I signed the contract for remodeling 3 bathrooms through the completion of the job. Immediately following my signing of the contract I requested a detailed breakdown of costs for services I was requesting (labor and materials for each bathroom). The breakdown came 1 hour after my 3 day cancellation option, despite repeated requests to supply it. The process was started on 2/24/16 and completed on 5/25/16, and only then due to my persistent follow-ups on the status of the project. My frustration with Main Street continued beyond the project completion, since they were non-communicative on the status of my refund.
The only reason that I initially acted without further investigation was that my husband became ill and required a handicap-assist bathroom, ASAP. I was encouraged by the fact that Main Street had been recommended as a trusted vendor in my nearby [redacted], whose reputation (and my past experience) provided the assurance that I needed to proceed. In fact, as this experience has drawn to a painful end, the only saving grace is that [redacted] quickly and effectively intervened when repeated attempts to get satisfaction from Main Street Remodeling failed. Contrary to the way Main Street behaved, [redacted] treated me with respect rather than disdain. For all these reasons, [redacted] receives an "A" while Main Street Remodeling merits a solid "F".
