Thank you for forwarding this complaint to our attention andallowing us the opportunity to respondBefore going too much further, I dowish to clarify that Maine Auto Credit strictly offers automobile financing andtruly does not sell nor service any automotive product whatsoever.Our initial
introduction to this matter occurred back in Augustwhen an acquaintance of Ms*** purchased the vehicle in question froman automobile dealership that offered our financing services. About months into the agreement, on July14, our then customer contacted us to inquire about an acquaintance“taking over the payments”. We advisedthat anyone could make payments on an account, but shared our concern that ownershipof the vehicle may be of equal importance and should be discussed by allparties. Two days later, on July 16,we were contacted by Ms*** and we reviewed the very same informationthat had been shared with the vehicle’s current owner. We advised that once both parties decided tomove forward to please let us know and we would take the appropriate stepstowards their goal. On a related note,we will point out that on August 1, Ms*** started making payments onour customer’s account.On January 13, we were advised by Ms*** that shewas contemplating moving out of Maine and wished to be able to take vehicle ownershipin order to take the vehicle with her. Ms*** did submit a credit application which we were able toapprove. On January 22, we invitedboth parties to our offices for the actual closing. Ms*** financed the exact amountremaining on our existing customer’s agreement, which allowed payment in fulland therefore release of our lien. Appropriate change of ownership paperwork (copies attached) was preparedand reviewed with both the Seller (Ms ***’s acquaintance) and Buyer (Ms.***): Bill of Sale of Motor Vehicle,Transfer of Ownership and Application for Certificate of Title (we have alsoenclosed a copy of the actual Title that was subsequently issued). Please note that all of these documentsclearly indicate ownership is changing from the prior owner to Ms*** andthat all documents are signed by Ms***. As much as I sincerely do not believe that Maine Auto Credithas contributed to our customer’s financial obligations to the State of Maine(Sales Tax, Excise Tax and Vehicle Registration Fees), I am very much willingto personally discuss the situation with Ms*** in an effort to help hernavigate through this situation.
