Review: For the week of July 1, 2013, I rented a summer cottage located at [redacted], ME [redacted] from [redacted] and his company, MaineBayFront.com LLC. As per the Terms and Conditions (see: [redacted]/featuredrental_terms_and_conditions.html), I provided Mr. [redacted] with a $100 refundable deposit. I left the property in excellent order (exactly as I had found it). Beginning on July 26, 2013, I followed up with Mr. [redacted] by email and phone to request the return of my refundable deposit. I never received responses.On or about September 5, 2013, I reached Mr. [redacted] by phone and he confirmed I would receive the deposit shortly. I never did. I continued to follow up by phone and email without a single response. On November 27, 2013 I again reached Mr. [redacted] by phone and for the first time he explained that he discovered property damage when he visited the property in September and was withholding all deposits until he figures out who did it. He stated he may hold my deposit until the end of the year. This was the first time I was notified of any issue regarding property damage. During the phone conversation and immediately after by email, I confirmed I stayed at the property during the week of July 1, 2013, that I left the property in excellent order (exactly as I had found it), and reminded him that his property manager should have reported any info to the contrary since he/she must have visited the property on July7th (or thereabouts) to prep the property for the next guest. In my email I also inquired as to why I didn't receive any notice which explained the situation in September when Mr. [redacted] must have made the decision to withhold deposit refunds. To his own admission, Mr. [redacted] did not have any information about who committed the damage to his property. To date I have not received my deposit nor a response from Mr. [redacted].Desired Settlement: I respectfully request your assistance in contacting Mr. [redacted] and compelling him to return my $100 deposit. In addition, I want to alert the public of his poor business practices.
