I am sorry but it is against our policy to allow a customer to return their car when faced
with this sort of a personal issue. We have done all we could to provide him with a car
and a fair deal that satisfied his auto needs. Had he not been let go from his previous job,
there would be no issue. We all face these type of unforeseen financial situations
from time to time and owning a dependable car will be a benefit to him securing future
employment.

Review: On the 7/23/14, I went to Maita toyota at 2500 Auburn blv. Sacramento to buy a car. I spoke with a sales representative called [redacted]. He gave me many papers to sign in a rush. I did not even read through the papers. I had a used car that I initially wanted to trade in red Honda Accord 2002. He told me they will give me good price for the car. That was the last thing we discussed. In 30 minutes time, he told me to give him my debit card, and asked me to make a down payment, I told him to take $500 as a down payment, and I want golden one to be my finance company since I bank with them, he told me he is going to do that for me. After all the transactions, when I was about to leave, I checked the paper and found out that they gave me $500 for my car. I told [redacted] I am not going to accept that fee, he told me he has nothing to do about it. When I returned home, I went through all the documents that they asked me to sign in a rush, I then realize that they tricked me, and I did not see golden one as finance company, and I also saw 6.49% interest. I went to them twice on the 7/25/14 at 10am and 2:30pm to return the car and take mine, they said they are not going to do anything about that. I told them I can't afford the monthly payment since I got an information that I'm going to be laid off from my job. The sales manager [redacted] told me I will find a job, or he will hire me if I don't have job, but I told him I don't want the car anymore, but he refuse to give me my car and my down payment back. I only make $1000 per month, I paid $500 as rent and the remaining I take care of my personal bills. I have called and emailed they sale representatives that emailed me initially, but none of them replied. I have also made many calls, but yet still they did not address my issue. Please kindly help me with my issue, these guys treated me wrong because they knew I have no idea about car issue. They want to take advantage on me. Thanks in advance, as I look forward to hearing from you.Regards,[redacted].Desired Settlement: I want them to give me my 2002 Honda Accord, with my $500 down payment. Another option is for them to pay $3500 for my Honda accord. I bought the car $5500 five months ago, why should they pay $500 for it? This is completely ripoff. My final resolution is for them to take their car back and give me my car and down payment .

Response:

I am rejecting this response because:

Hello Sir/Madam,

Review: Maita Toyota installed after market wheels and tires on a new vehicle. Now problems with the wheels and tires they fail to support the warranty.

Background: On August 21, 2009, I purchased a 2009 Toyota Highlander from Maita Toyota of Sacramento at a cost of $41,068.09. When I bought the vehicle from the dealer, the factory-installed wheels and tires had been replaced by aftermarket 20- inch Boss wheels and Cooper tires. The original OEM wheels and tires called for 19- inches.

I purchased the vehicle during the California's "Lemon Vehicle Rebate Program," and had traded in a 1994 Toyota ForeRunner given to me by my daughter, for a trade rebate of $3,500.00. I didn't particularly desire the wheels and tires, especially at a cost of approximately $2,500.00 but the selection of available vehicles was limited, as there were only 3 days left on the rebate program offer.

Problem Statement: As time passed I began to feel vibration in my vehicle's suspension, which I brought to Maita's attention on two different occasions. The first occasion took place on 9/7/10, and was presented to a service advisor named [redacted] (mileage 9528). On this visit, I was informed that they did not balance wheels and tires. I returned again on 9/21/11 (mileage 19788), and the second advisor, [redacted] note was "Aftermarket Rims missing spacers on all 4 tires." No corrective actions were taken on these concerns. After no action by Maita, I had my wheels balanced by [redacted] Tires [redacted] Blvd.) every six months. On 7/7/13, while riding with my wife and grandson, we started to feel an unbearable vibration in the suspension and being close to home, I continued there slowly. On 7/8/13, I took my vehicle to [redacted] tires where they found delamination in a tire. They said they would replace it if I produced proof of purchase. On 7/9/13, I took my vehicle to [redacted] Wheels & Tires, which is the dealer that performed the original installation for Maita Toyota. They told me that they no longer carried Cooper tires, and that because there was no receipt on file for the tires, Maita Toyota would have to procure the receipt for me. I contacted the service manager at Maita who replied that he would have to go through two years of receipts at Elk Grove to find me a receipt. A receipt was never given to me. Thinking I would get a receipt from Maita, I had a replacement tire installed at [redacted] Tire Depot at a cost of $138.00. On 8/5/13, I took my vehicle to Maita with a continued complaint of vibration. The service advisor told me that I had another delamination in my right rear tire. After coming home I spoke to the Maita service manager, [redacted] explaining the history of the bad wheel and tires and told him I wanted the equipment removed from my vehicle and to have factory-installed OEM wheels re-installed. On 8/6/13, I received a call from Maita relaying that they were in the process of locating some wheels for me. Yet by end of business day, I did not receive a call as was promised.

Proof: My odometer currently reads XXXXX miles. The Cooper tires on the vehicle have a 60,000 mile warranty. When the tires were checked on 7/9/13, they were half worn. Moreover, my Toyota manual calls for a standard OEM tire and wheel, and cautions against installing aftermarket products such as the 20-inch wheels and tires installed on my SUV.

As a longstanding and loyal customer of Toyota, who is a senior and a military veteran, I feel strongly that Maita Toyota's customer relations has done little to bring resolution to this issue, and instead has victimized me.

Ph. XXX-XXX-XXXXDesired Settlement: Two tires have delaminate over a period of five weeks. Although I have 30,000 more miles warranty on the tires, Maita won't provide me with a receipt to replace the bad tires. Since so much time has gone by since trying to get support from Maita, I had to purchase 4 new tires on my own. I didn't want to chance driving on the remaining two tires.

Business' Initial Response

Contact Name and Title: [redacted] Service Dire

Contact Phone: [redacted]

Contact Email: [redacted]@maita.net

Mr. [redacted] called Maita Toyota regarding his tire and wheel concerns after [redacted] Tire and [redacted] were unable to correct his concerns. Our business records for his transactions (over two years old) are housed off-site and were retrieved for inspection. Mr. [redacted] stated that he would call for the receipt if his other avenues did not bear fruit. We did not discuss the receipt again. Mr. [redacted] called regarding the wheel size and gave me to the end of that day for resolution of the issue. I presented Mr. [redacted] with the dollar amount to replace his tires and wheels with stock size units, but Mr. [redacted] was not interested in incurring any expense. I was not able to resolve his concern by the end of that business day and am now responding to this complaint as his next communication to our store.

Consumer's Final Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Mr. [redacted] Maita Service Director, exaggerated the truth. He did not address the following issues at all:

1. Will he produce the tire receipt so I can get a refund for two bad tires? or will Toyota give me a refund since they know the tire cost.

2. Will Maita Toyota install hubcentric rings which the lack of is causing my wheel vibration. This was previously noted as an adapter in a Maita service report.

3 Will Maita Toyota correct the silicone substance found in the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that causes the sensor light to stay on? (Noted by [redacted] on 8/13/13.

4. Did Mr. [redacted] bother to look at my service record dated 8/5/13 noting excessive vehicle vibration?

5. Will Maita Toyota correct these issues in good faith or would small claims court be the best option?

Business' Final Response

Met with the BAR representative that Mr. [redacted] engaged. Maita agrees that we can replace the hubcentric rings that have been missing since??

Maita agrees that we can prorate the four tires using the mileage and tread depth readings that were recorded at time of replacement by the other shops.

Maita is not able to locate the receipt for the tires and wheels installed on Mr. [redacted]'s vehicle, but this is a moot point considering the above paragraph.

The TPMS concern is regarding ?? [redacted] tire experts were unable to sell Mr. [redacted] their 'life extending TPMS pack' and thus a concern has been created? The light has never been on nor has there ever been a concern noted regarding the TPMS system. Maita is not willing to participate in [redacted] sales process.

Consumer Response

Maita Toyota replaced after market wheels and tires with Toyota factory OEM wheels and tires on October 1, 2013.
