Major Pawn

Review: I pawned an item at Major Pawn Brokers, Corp. located in [redacted] with the intention of paying back the loan, and re-obtaining the item. The item is of great sentimental value and is also worth about three to four times the amount of the loan that I received; I would not have taken out the loan if I did not have the intention of repaying it. When I took out the loan, I received a copy of the contract, and the main reason I chose to go with Major Pawn is because one of the terms stated that I would receive notification in the mail 30 days prior to the loan expired. [sic] "3. This pledge may be sold by us after FOUR (4) MONTHS from the date of pawn, provided at least thirty (30) days before the sale we send you by mail, to the address given at the time of pledge, a written notice that we intend to sell." I did receive written notice, on February [redacted] 2014, however my item was sold anyway. I attempted to pick it up on March **, 2014 (the [redacted] day), and was informed that the item had been sold. The letter that I received stated that I had 30 days from February [redacted] 2014 to pick up the item, and that if I did not pick it up it would be sold; however, I was informed by the store clerk that the item had been sold on February [redacted] 2014, which implies that the notice was sent out as a 'cover-up.' I went in with $750.20 cash on March ** 2014, the amount required to make the loan whole, and was told that my item had been sold. I filed a police report to that effect. Major Pawn did not fulfill their contractual obligations and defrauded me, scamming me out of a family heirloom. Major Pawn is one of the worst, unethical, immoral, fraudulent, scamming companies I have done business with, they act shady when questioned; the employee refused to give me the name of the registered [redacted]) when I requested it. I had to look at the business certificate posted on the wall.Desired Settlement: I would like the original item back, as it has great sentimental value and having it stolen inflicted emotional distress upon me. If the item was sold, I would like the name and address of the person to whom it was sold, so I can file a police report and get my property back. If the original item is available, I will gladly pay the $750.20 amount of the loan to get my item back, as I tried to do on 3/**/14. My item was stolen, as Major Pawn violated their contractual obligations.
