Make My Toy Reviews (10)

On May 31, 2019 I paid over a $1000 for a plush prototype to be made with some electronics in it. In November 2019 I was sent some pictures of the prototype and Moe admitted there needed to be a few changes for it was done correctly (the head proportionally was too small for body). That was the last contact I ever received from him. I have tried emailing and texting with no response. Now on Feb 20, 2020 it has been over 3 months since I heard anything and over 8 months since I paid for my prototype. Just a warning to beware!

I have been corresponding with [redacted] through a [redacted] resolution center complaint and by email and text. [redacted] is already withholding $3500 in payments that he made to my [redacted] account. He’s received a partial shipment as of Dec 23rd and the remaining goods are shipping today from...

the factory. He has already received free shipping and a reduction of $0.50 per piece — over $1000 in value. He said he’s happy with the toy itself. I explained to him the scheduling and delay in manufacturing that was happening with the factory during the time running up to the holidays and repeatedly apologized and offered him things like free express air shipping and reduction in toy cost. Air freight from [redacted] is not cheap and that alone is close to $1000. I’ve made significant efforts to placate the client and there is little else I can do. He’s also emailed the factory in [redacted] directly to try and get a price on more toys from them directly which is really not a very appropriate action from a client.    All his payments have already been sent to the factory in [redacted], so if the $3500 in funds are returned to him by [redacted] and I’m reducing his per piece cost and also paying for shipping, I’m effectively already at a loss of over $7000 on his production and he will have received all 500 of the plush toys he ordered for free. This doesn’t exactly seem fair from my end when I’ve already made many concessions and accepted blame for not meeting the earlier deadline. I doubt you’ll find many small companies that will make the concessions I’ve already made in this case for things completely out of my control.   Best regards, [redacted]

Horrible company and business - stay away from using these guys at all costs.

They (Moe, the main contact and potentially the only person "running" the business) was friendly upfront and replied to emails and comms. All was reassuring once we paid for the sample production, from there the replies to my emails started to come less frequent.

Once the sample was approved (after delays and excuses) it went downhill. I emailed weekly to ask for updates and for Moe to get back to me with answers to my questions, only received a reply to every 4th email with a vague update, still ensuring me things were on time for the aimed shipping date. Excuse after excuse and extreme lack of communication, the production was delayed past the initial shipping date and only then was this flagged / communicated to us (after I had to send multiple angry emails) along with an absurd shipping cost of triple the cost of what was quoted (and more than the production cost itself).

Has your product shipped? If you still dont have it or were misquoted please find out if you can make a claim. There is a time limit so be quick)
We got all of our money back since we paid through Paypal, we ended up having to go through a different company for the product and while it was a little more expensive the customer service and quality of the product was so much better. I wish we had never wasted our time with Make My Toy/Moe - Buyers Beware!

We have had countless excuses and problems once we paid our 50% deposit of over $3,500. Since we paid we have no product, no expected date of completion and the only time Moe communicates is to tell us excuse after excuse of why he doesn't have an update, why they're not done or hes been ill, only person in the office or how the manufacture halted production. This is our second time using him and I went against my better judgement and warning from the person that dealt with him last time and went with him again thinking this time would be smooth because he has worked out the kinks. Getting a sample is easy, getting the quote and invoice was easy, after that NOTHING ELSE IS EASY!

My experience started with Make My Toy in the summer of 2016. After approving the sample, getting a response about my production was exhausting. After paying the final amount on November 9, totaling $3500, I was told my product was shipping. Now, after six weeks, no product. I missed having product for Black Friday, having product to give to kids at a Children's Hospital and most likely will not have product in time for the Christmas holidays. If you don't mind if a company doesn't respond in a timely manner, lacks customer service and doesn't put the customer first, then this company is for you!. If I could give "negative stars" it would be a negative 5 star review. A complaint has been filed with the Revdex.com.

Review: I requested a sample of my design to the company MakeMyToy.com. [redacted], the one handling the calls, said that a sample would be shown in atleast 7-10 days, along with pictures, and eventual shipping of the actual sample. [redacted] did respond on the 10th day that business was slow due to Holidays, but it was like pulling teeth to get any pictures of the sample. It has been a month later, and after a few emails and a call, no reponse was given. I paid $280 for the sample piece. Just one little [redacted] toy, and no samples have been seen since the invoice was sent. Another person on [redacted] went futher to order bulk of their product, and were ripped off $1300. Lack of communication and no proof of the piece being made is very dissapointing, especially since their toys on the site looked very well made.

I would like a refund of $280.00 for the sample piece that has not been made.
