On April 5, 2018, I purchased an eyeshadow brush from Make Up For Ever at an upscale mall, *** ***, in Dallas for $24.36, which is pretty steep This was my first experience in this store and at the time, my sales person was gracious and kindWhen I took the brush home and out of the package, I realized it wasn’t as fluffy as I wanted my brush to be (definitely not as fluffy as the one they had on display on the wall), so I repackaged it and attempted to return it two days laterMy original salesperson was there and also a consultantWhen I told them the brush out of the package wasn’t quite what I wanted it to be, they over and over told me to wash it and to fluff it out and use it and to do all these things other than stand on my head to fix itI told them I would simply prefer to return the unused brushThey then assured me multiple times that if I did all these things to the brush and still did not like it, I could return the brush within daysAgainst my better judgment, I left the store, a little rattled that I could not simply return the brush without a fussFive days later, almost a week after my original purchase, I decided I really wanted a thicker brush and attempted to return the brush againI was then told I could only exchange it for something else I informed that employee that I was not aware of this when I purchased the brush or I would never have purchased the brush in the first place since I don’t purchase nonrefundable itemsI was very explicit that they should have told me it was non-returnable both when I purchased it or again two days later when I returned to attempt to return it and they assured me over and over that I could return it later if I was still dissatisfiedThe current employee insisted that since I was given a discount on the brush, it could not be returnedShe then pointed at the very bottom of my receipt, and, tacked on after another statement saying that returns would be accepted within days with receipt, read that discounted items could only be exchangedI explained this needed to be made clear to customers and I set the brush down on the display and told her to simply take the brush and I would leave because there was nothing I neededGiving someone a discount without fully disclosing the terms is deceptive
PLUS I received the receipt after the purchase had been made, so it’s a done deal by then anyway! I had been in that store two times and they had had chances to tell me about the flipside of the discountAfter some uncomfortable time back-and-forth conversation about a gift card during a very busy time, I simply took my receipt and left the brush and walked out of the storeThe sales person insisted on giving me a store credit for it but you can imagine after this experience, I never want to see that store againTwice I tried to return it and was made to feel very uncomfortable and there is no way I would ever enter that store again, so a gift card would simply go unusedApologies for the length of thisI still want my $back

I have tried several times to call the ###-###-#### customer service number they have and it goes to voicemailso I tried emailing themSomeone named Devon called me back at ###-###-#### and told me they would send me an return/exchange label by the end of day 3/**/I never received it and can no longer get a hold of someone again
