transmission or selling her vehicle for scrap given its age, value and cost to repair. She told Gary she couldn’t afford to pay for a new transmission (roughly $1,200.00 for the parts and $700 for the labor) or rebuild her old transmission ($1,200 for parts and labor),Ms. [redacted] paid TnT Towing $350.00, half of TnT’s normal rate, to put in a used transmission which she purchased from a junk yard. That transmission didn’t work. She returned it and got her money back. She paid $200 to TnT to put the old transmission back in so that she could drive the car.Customer got another used transmission from a different junkyard.TnT put the new-used transmission in and customer paid TnT $150 of $300 she was charged for the 3rd install. The transmission worked but pulled an engine code for governor meaning the transmission had a fault unrelated to TnT’s labor and that the transmission might hard shift as a result.Obviously she was upset at this point went back to the junkyard which told her that it would honor the warranty if she replaced the radiator, if they did the job, and that it would cost $450.00. She refused to pay junkyard and went back to TnT to whom she still owed money and demanded that she replace that transmission for free. TnT refused to do so knowing that the problems were unrelated to TnT’s work.First, she was at all times advised that these repairs were gambles and stopgap measures to save her the cost of a full repair which she could not afford. Gary understood she was desperate on disability and tried to keep her driving. TnT’s price quotes were given in full knowledge of her financial circumstance and have little to no margin for profit. TnT was helping her take a chance.The customer could have put in a new transmission for about $1,900.00. It is unfortunate that she has paid $700.00 (of the $900.00) owed to TnT for its labor in installing a 3rd used transmission and in light of that couldhave been done once had the transmission been new. If any of the transmissions worked to her satisfaction she would have saved money.Both parties lost out on. the deal. TnT performed 3 jobs for the price of 1 and TnT is adamant that the installs were all performed properly.If you need any additional information, please contact me. Gary T[redacted]
