            On
2/25/2015 Auto 4 Less sold a 2001 Pontiac Grand AM to [redacted] for
$3,237.97 plus T.T.L. The
vehicle was paid in full by credit card. Before the vehicle was purchased, Mr.
Heinzel and his family took it for a test drive and inspected the car
themselves.
On 2/26/2015 [redacted] (Keith
Heinzels mom) called us yelling threatening the company and employees. The next
day the dad came to talk to me and I respectfully asked him what happened. He
began to explain that a couple of hours after they bought the car it would not
start. They took the battery out and took it to AutoZone to get charged. After
putting the battery back the vehicle started just fine. The next day the car wouldn’t start so they
gave it a jump-start and went back to AutoZone. The employees were looking at
to try to figure out what exactly was wrong. While they were working on it,
they go to turn on the vehicle and the car caught on fire.
As a note lot, we sell the car as-is and do not offer refunds
or free repairs once the car is sold. In this case we wanted to help the
customers and offered to take a look at the car to see what we could do in
order to help their situation.They
did not like the fact that we could not offer them a full refund so then we
told the father that we would have to speak with the owner to see what options
we have. The next day we called to tell them we would be more than happy to
help them fix the car and notify them with the charges prior to fixing it. They
started screaming out racist comments over the phone such as “Tell him I am going to call the immigration
on him.”
           As a
company our main focus is to have great customer service, we offered help, but
the family would not work with us to compromise. We believe that AutoZone has a
part in why the car caught on fire. With that, we still offered to help. The
most important thing is for our car to pass inspections fully in order to
prevent breakdowns and in this case fires. Our duty as a note lot was done.
