Mama Mia's Pizza Reviews (3)

Revdex.com RESPONSEFROM:[redacted] On December *, 2014 my husband who owned Mama Mias Ristorante with me, passed away of a [redacted] and left me with 3 children and both businesses to run as a single mother of three.  We...

were lucky enough to have someone inquire about buying the restaurant and on April [redacted] and we sold it.  We informed all of the restaurant patrons that all of the gift cards bought from Mama Mias Ristorante will be honored at Mama Mia’s Pizzeria one mile away. The gift cards were always valid for both locations. The restaurant system was saved on a back-up data base by Tally POS our terminal processor on August [redacted] as soon as the closing papers were signed.  Tally POS then started to transfer all of the unused gift cards to the pizzeria terminal via the internet system they have.    Due to the large number of gift cards…. over 6 years… THAT DO NOT EXPIRE…this process was taking some time. We again notified our patrons of the restaurant it would take a few weeks to complete the transfer process and to bare with us. On Mother’s Day, May [redacted],  [redacted] contacted me at the Pizzeria to place an order and use his gift cards.  When the gift cards were not registering properly he canceled the order and wanted his money back immediately in cash. I could not call the company because they are not open on Sundays and tried to tell him that but he would not even let me speak.   He started screaming at me with fowl language when I tried to explain that, and  he continued to scream and curse at me.  I was so shaken and upset I had to hang up to avoid the verbal abuse.Customers who purchase gift cards are clearly told they cannot be redeemed for cash because the card never expires and it also states on the back of the card that it cannot be redeemed for cash as well. There is a photo of this disclaimer attached. [redacted] is a regular customer of ours so to say that he would not trust us to prepare his food is absurd.  [redacted] is also a local resident who frequents both the pizzeria and restaurant and also new my husband recently died and this was my first mother’s day for my children and I without my husband so to do this to me and call the Revdex.com is just classless. I have been in business for 15 years and never had a issue like this.As a patron of both the pizzeria and restaurant, he is clearly not telling the truth that he doesn’t like our food and should be ashamed of himself the way he treated me and spoke to me in general as a human being, considering we did everything we said we would in honoring all gift cards from our restaurant.  I even tried to offer him to use it for catered food and would deliver it to his home at a later date.Everyone in the neighborhood knows our family and the quality of our food which is why we are in business over 15 years prior to opening the restaurant in 2009.  I am still more than happy to honor all of his gift cards at our other establishment as well as all of my other customers.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter to be resolved based on the response below.Given that the earlier responses I received from [redacted] included resolutions that were unacceptable, I thought it would be fitting that the community might be afforded the opportunity to benefit from this unfortunate circumstance. I’m more that pleased that she agrees and is being gracious enough to add additional funds to the balance of the gift cards that she was currently blocking on my account.I have donated the four gift cards with the combined balance of $233.60 to the Connetquot Youth Soccer League.  I will inform the President of the league that she will be generously adding an even higher value as part of Mama Mia’s additional contribution to the league and that he can expect to receive more than the $233.60 dollar balance that he anticipated using for end of the season team events. While after years of patronage it’s disappointing that the situation required the forum of the Revdex.com to be able to arrive at a resolution, but I am pleased that a worthy youth organization in the community will benefit.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Review: Recent change in ownership of their accompanying restaurant left me with gift cards that could only be used at their pizzeria. The gift cards had both locations listed on the back and earlier in the week I confirmed that the pizzeria was accepting the gift cards. To my disappointment, when I placed an order this weekend (5/**/2015) I was informed that they were not able to take the gift cards. It was extremely alarming that they were asking for the last four digits of the four gift cards that I had, but were unable to resolve the matter at that time.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the value of the gift cards which was over $200. Given the poor customer service experience I would not trust them to prepare my food and have chosen to give all of my future business to a different neighborhood pizzeria.
