M&P Specialty Builders Reviews (2)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I have enclosed several photos of the work that Mr. M[redacted] and his associate completed at my home.  Mr. M[redacted] asserts that I will not let him back to "finish" the job that they started but did not have an opportunity to complete because of my poor behavior.  I included a photo of the ceiling.  The contractor that I consulted after Mr. M[redacted] and his associate left states that in 40 years he had never seen anything like their work.  There was no way to "fix" the ceiling.  It needed to be taken down and the materials scrapped.  The covers need to be removed from the recessed lights and the drywall installed correctly.  There was "mud" missing from some spots of the drywall tape.  The two men started the ceiling first (on Saturday). When they were finishing Saturday night.  I expressed concern.  I was told they were going to fix it.  When they came back on Sunday instead of completing the ceiling and with very humid conditions although a dehumidifier was in place - the two men started the floor.  Before finishing the floor, they started to put up trim as you can see from the pictures.  Also you can see that in addition to not being mitered, the trim was not cut correctly and there were gaps.  Again this resulted in the materials having to be scraped not finished.I want my deposit back.  In a money order so Mr. M[redacted] cannot cancel it.  I would consider the matter closed when I receive my deposit of $1,200.00 back and will walk away with a loss of the $500 materials.  The railing was cut short so Mr. [redacted]'s assertion that he was putting it up with the idea to finish at a later date is contradicted by his work.  I need new materials to finish the job.  If it was put up to be out of the way they I should be able to use the materials. I cannot.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.1) the railing on the front steps was installed in a substandard manner.  My homeowners insurance which is requiring railing be installed will not accept the substandard installation of the railing.  I have contracted with Lowes who is installing a new railing - they have substantiated that the railing was installed improperly and needs to be replaced at a cost of $800.2) Zac is correct I was not there when he and his partner arrived I texted him to call me when he did arrive.  The two had installed drywall on the ceiling the day before and did not bother to remove the casing from the recessed lighting and just cut squares around it.  I asked them to fix it and was told that I need to buy the finishing cases which were already on the lights.  The contractor who I have asked to look at the area said it was the worst drywall installation in his 30 years of experience.  3) If the two were going for a box frame around my doors there should be square pieces where the framing ends but there are not.  Also they used door casings are on backwards and used the door casing for baseboards.  He put up the baseboard before the floor was installed so there are gaps between the wall and the floor.4)  The railing on the stairs in the basement - it was improperly installed.  Again not enough nails or the depth required to secure the posts on the steps.  One railing was twisting instead of cutting it down to size.  The other is ruined as now there are nails through the side of the handrail and not able to be used again.5) Zac pursued me to ask if there was any work for him and his 'partner' I do feel like I was targeted and taken advantage of.  I would like my down payment back.  I certainly told him I would reimburse him for items bought.  When it was decided I did not want the stain - I told him to take it back.  He has $1,200 of my money that they took knowing they could not do the work.  6) The floor tiles are completely ruined - without rebuying all of the tiles again there is no way the floor can be "fixed." 7)  He sent me the cashier's check and when I thanked him he informed me that he had put a stop payment on it and taunted me to "try and cash it"
