Review: After a year long membership I decided to cancel as I was no longer able to attend due to schedule restraints. I called 30 days in advance to cancel my membership and sent a written request to cancel which was accepted and I was told the last draft on my credit card would be 15 dollars for the remaining days of my contract. I received a new credit card the last day of the month and before I could contact the gym to update the information they auto drafted my credit card. When the old credit card info didn't work they sent me an email stating so & I called in to update the info. They charged me a $25 transaction fee for the charge being declined (due to the old CC info) & they refused to negotiate or try to have the charges reversed. I think this fee is obnoxious and I have never been charged a fee for this kind of thing before. They claim it is written in the fine print of the agreement & that they disclose this to everyone (I have no recollection of this, but maybe they did). Further, the club threatened to renew my membership (against my wishes & despite the fact I had a written email confirming the termination date of my membership) if I did not pay the fee. I believe this is a poor way to treat customers and that they were trying to use scare tactics to force me to pay a fee that is ridicules & they made no attempt at all to try to work with me.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to refund the $25 fee and work with their account processor to negotiate better terms for their customers. I would also like for them stop threatening to renew peoples memberships against their wishes as leverage to force them into paying fees that are obnoxious.
