RIC prevented us from taking advantage of a manufacturer sale price by lying to us about the sale end dateOn Saturday, May 14, a salesman at the Winter Park Relax in Comfort store told us that their $3,sale price for the Umattress in split-head California King was valid through the end of MayBut four days later, on May 18, the salesman informed us that the sale had ended and the price was now $4,I objected to the change in terms and contacted the mattress manufacturer regarding their dealer's conduct
In response, Relax in Comfort offered a "deal" in which we'd pay a total of $4,for an "open box" Uand an adjustable bed frame (model***) that we can't find for sale anywhere else, and continued to refuse to honor their original commitmentI contacted the bed frame manufacturer, who told me that if I provided the serial numbers on the outside of the*** boxes they could give me the date of manufacture and history of the units, including any problems experiencedRelax in Comfort initially claimed they'd have to open the box to get the serial number from the frames, and said they were unwilling to do soWhen confronted with the fact that the manufacturer's label on the outside of the box shows the serial number they claimed that they apply their own label over the manufacturer's label, covering the serial number
Shortly after this, while speaking to Relax in Comfort's "Director of Ergo IT/Marketing/Design", I expressed concern that their "closeout sales" page on which the open-box Uwas listed says "All Sales are Final"The Director assured me that while Relax in Comfort would not allow any return for any reason, the manufacturer would allow me to return the open box mattress for an exchange or refund anytime within days after purchaseWhen I checked with the manufacturer, they said this was completely untrue, that they only offered exchanges for products purchased directly through their own websiteWhen I told the Director about this he denied his earlier statement and said Relax in Comfort would allow an exchangeGiven that their website explicitly says otherwise and that this was the basis for another Revdex.com complaint, I very much doubt it
On Tuesday, May Relax in Comfort's Director told us we had until Friday, May to accept their offer or the "open box" mattress would be offered for sale on their display floorI insisted that we be sold a new Uat the promised price without having to buy a package deal, but Relax in Comfort continued to refuse to honor their original commitment
By this point we had concluded it would be foolish to do business with Relax in ComfortI continued to reach out to the mattress manufacturer in search of a resolution while searching the internet for a better dealThat better deal came when an internet sales company in Virginia ran a Memorial Day sale pricing a new-in-the-box Umattress for the sale price of $2,and a new-in-the-box current-manufacture adjustable bed frame for $1,740, a total of $less than Relax in Comfort was asking (including sales tax)Better yet, both units will be shipped directly from the manufacturer, assuring us that they are in fact new and unused and not just the dross piled in the back of somebody's warehouseI bought it and count ourselves lucky to have avoided doing business with Relax in Comfort
Paid over $8000 for mattress and base. Waited a month and a half for delivery and got many many excuses. We could not even sleep on the bed when we got it because of a defective air pump. Multiple calls to the store and multiple requests to speak to a manager or owner were never returned. Luckily, I had the delivery drivers phone number and was able to get him to come to our house a couple days later to replace air pump. Unfortunately, the 2nd pump was defective and the driver had to install an older model to fix the problem. We still have not got a return call from an owner as promised! Once they took our money...they no longer provided ANY help or service. We have had several more problems with the bed only to have to contact the manufacturer to help us resolve the problems. We are so unhappy that we spent so much money for such a bad experience. There are so many bed companies out there, so SHOP AROUND! I would NEVER recommend this company!
