Review: The first time I called the school to inquire about a phlebotomy course, I spoke with [redacted], and confirmed with her the school would take my Post 9/11 GI Bill, she said "yes".

The second time I called, April **, 2014, to inquire in more detail about the course dates and times, I again confirmed with [redacted] that my Post 9/11 GI Bill could be used at this school, and again she said "yes". With the information given, I then proceeded to enroll over the phone into the school's phlebotomy/ekg course, and paid the $100 non refundable fee; then, I proceeded to submit my form to the Department of Veterans Affairs, to use my Post 9/11 GI Bill. A couple of days later , I went to the school to get my receipt for the $100, and fill out paperwork, including a payment plan, which allowed me to pay $185 weekly for the duration of the course . On the first day of class, May **, 2014, I paid the first installment of $185 in order to be allowed to attend class, and brought with me my GI Bill eligibility letter, with this letter, the school would then be responsible for certifying my enrollment into the course. That first day, [redacted] was not in, and I was told I needed to speak with her directly; the next day, May **, 2014, [redacted] was in but was busy on the phone, so I was unable to speak with her; on the third day, May **, 2014 when I stopped by the front desk, [redacted] was not in but when I explained again to the receptionist what I was there for, another lady informed me that the school no longer took the GI Bill, and explained that I would not be certified. Because the person I had to speak with was [redacted], the next day May **, 2014, I called and finally spoke with [redacted], not only did she denied ever telling me the school took the GI Bill, but she then proceeded to admit she had just became aware the school did not take it. When I requested a refund for both the installment of $185 and the $100 non refundable fee, she said I would not get anything because I attended class. After further discussion and her communication with the school director, I was told I had to go to the school today June *, 2014 to get the $185 refunded, but still refuse to refund me back the initial $100. Today when I called to confirm the refund would take place, I cannot get a hold of [redacted], and according to the people I spoke with at the school, she is the only person I need to handle that with. As of right now, I have not received any call back from the school or from [redacted] regarding my refund.,Desired Settlement: I would like to be refunded the full amount of money I paid the school, including the initial $100 non refundable enrollment fee. I enrolled under incorrect information, and for that I deserve to get both the $100 and the $185 back. If I had been given the correct information from the beginning, I would not have enrolled in the course, but because [redacted] gave me incorrect information, I enrolled in the course. I am unemployed, and cannot afford to be losing money this way.

Review: I started Dialysis Training in March 2013. My first day was interested, we introduced ourselves and that was the end of the first day and we also left an hour early. After the first, we left an hour early everyday and if you think about it; that extra hour are well needed for the student to learn the material. 99 % of the student had a hard time understanding the instructor and I thought he was very disrespect towards his student, even though he come as his joking. The instructor expected us to know the material with little given information and also the text book print were not clear and were not updated. The instructor always went off topic to kill time. What I found disturbing was how the instructor took the whole evenly during our last week to teach EKG when the class was for Dialysis. I was very upset week by week when I started noticed that am not really understanding the material and everyday I hope it would get better and it never did till the end. During the last week I was expecting to get hands on training with the dialysis machine however, the instructor only went over the machine once ; 15-30 minute and expected us to know it. We asked to get more practice but he refused to do so. I have been looking for job and when a dialysis center do contact and find out where I did my trainning; they are not please. One of the center mention that I wasted my time and money trainning with them. Overall, I felt I wasted my time and my money; I am 23 yrs old, I worked hard to pay for the trainning class. PS. STAFF’S IN MANHATTEN INSTITUTE WILL TELL YOU THAT THEY WILL HELP YOU FIND A JOB, IT’S A BIG LIE. THE STAFF'S IN THE SCHOOL WOULD TAKE YOU OUT OFF THE CLASS FOR YOU TO MAKE YOUR PAYMENT INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR THE CLASS TO END. I would like a full refund of my money so that I can retake the trainning elsewhere.Desired Settlement: Total about of the tuition which was $1800

Response:

It is very troublesome that we are receiving this complaint. We take all complaints very seriously, and regard it as a highly sensitive manner. After careful review of the complaint addressed by [redacted] we would like to offer our response:

Many points we will not get into because it turns into a "he said" "she said" battle, which accomplishes nothing.

1.) We are the first private school in the New York City area to teach the Dialysis Technician program. We have successfully taught it since the year 2000. The course was designed around the national kidney foundations criteria for Dialysis Technician; We constantly monitor our students outcome, and the reports we have received from Dialysis employers has always been excellent.

2.)The instructor like most people in New York does have an slight accent. However, he has been in this country since 1989 and has worked for us for 12 years. Throughout those years his slight accent has never been a barrier for any other student.

3.) What is the most unfortunate thing is that [redacted] was in the school for the entire 6 weeks and attended everyday and never spoke to anyone about any problems or complaints; even though we communicate with her every week, and the school director is always present.

4. ) Students are also aware that the Dialysis instructor has office hours Monday-Friday from 3pm-5pm to give students any additional training, both hands-on and theory. If students cannot come during these hours we always make special arrangements for students to come at no additional charge.

5.) After discussing [redacted] with the instructor we noticed that she was a good student, and did well on her exams. My 25 years of experience educating students tells me that her main complaint is that she is unable to find a job. Although we are an educational institution and not a staffing agency it is impossible to guarantee a student a job. With that said, we would like to have the opportunity to work with [redacted] and help her with any areas of her Dialysis training that she is unclear about. In addition, we would like to help with her job placement search which she thus far has not reached out to us for assistance with.

[redacted] should know that we understand her situation and would not treat her any differently because of this complaint. At the Manhattan Institute our students always come first, and their success is our main concern.

Response:

To whom it may concern,

A refund is not due to [redacted], given that she completed the entire course. If she had come to anyone at the school during her time here, that would have been another case. We are willing to resolve her issues which is her requiring additional training and will provide that at no extra cost. We also presently have two Dialysis technician jobs available for her to pursue by simply contacting us.

[redacted] needs to communicate with us so that we are able to resolve this problem. We are not trying to make this difficult. We wish to resolve all of [redacted]'s issues.

Thank you,

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: the institute refuses to refund my money. Since they refuse to refund my money; I guess I have to do it the hard way. I will get other student that was in the training class involve in this case. They are will to support my case and you guys better hope they don't want their money back as well. You will hear from me again, diffinality not through Revdex.com Org. It's hard for you guys to refund my money; try working for it to pay for something that didn't benefit you one bit. I will not stop till I get my money back. Even if I have to take time off to do extra; I will do it. I don't want problem but it seem like you guys are asking for it.

Review: I registered for Manhattan Institute for their Medical Coding and Billing about some time late January 2014 /early February 2014. Most recently, about 2 weeks ago, I read several distruping alerts/complaints that I read on the interanet regarding the school indicating that several graduates were "promised" job placement throough the school for different programs such as CNA, HHA, etc. I called the school and left a message and I received a call from [redacted], who indicated that he was the [redacted], and I informed him of what I read and I now had reeservations about attending the school for the Medical Coding & Billing. At the end of the conversation [redacted] assured me that I would get back my registration fee ($50.00) even though their contract states that I could not get it back, based on the alerts/complaints that I read. I called the school several times requesting the refund speaking first to [redacted]. [redacted], who passed the call to a hostile young lady name [redacted]. When I spoke to [redacted], not only was she non-cooperative, but assumed the role of the last person who makes the decession for the refunds to the students. The most distruping is last night I got a message on my home phone from the school wanting me to confirm starting this Saturday, the [redacted], when clearly I cancelled by phone and mail with [redacted] and [redacted] and [redacted].Desired Settlement: Since Manhattan Institute is not a school that I would want to go to after reading and dealing with the staff, I would like my refund. ALso I would like an investigation done for all the students who have gone through the school and has not been able to find employment.
