Manhattan Women's Medical Offices Reviews (3)

Review: Also including: The company has failed to provided itemized billing The company has unethical collection practices Customer service failed to provide assistance The company failed to honor their policy regarding refund, exchange or credit The company failed to honor a verbal commitment to provide refunds, exchanges, or credit An unreasonable or excessive delay in completing a repair The failure to provide an invoice or written estimate for service upon request My first appointment with Manhattan Women’s Medical, {[redacted]} was on August [redacted], 2012. After registering with the office and giving them all my information, they gave me the balance for that office visit at full price. They told me that since they didn’t have my insurance, which I didn’t know until my second appointment on August **, 2012, I would have to pay full price until they submit the claim to my insurance so I can be reimbursed. I had about 3 appointments afterwards, Sept. **, Oct. **, and Dec. * 2012. By the last appointment on Dec.*, 2012, the manager by the name [redacted] explain to me that they now carry my insurance and I shouldn’t have to pay full price anymore and in fact they submitted the claim for the previous appointments to my insurance and everything was finish. I had another appointment set for February [redacted], 2013. My reimbursement problem was never solved because I never received any payment. I asked to speak with [redacted], the manager but of course she was in a meeting. My appointment on March [redacted], 2013, I asked to speak with her, in which I did and she had informed me that they sent the claim in to my insurance and I would have to wait for them to process it. I called my insurance and they explained to me that there is no claim for me in their system. I had two appointments after this in June and July of 2013 where I asked to speak with doctors that are listed on paperwork, [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] or anyone in a management position and no one at the office could help me at all and in fact told me they would send her a message which didn’t help me. By June of 2013, letters from my insurance and a laboratory started arising claiming that I owe anything between $500 to $1000 each month. These letters would come in three’s with all the same information but different sponsor names and social security numbers. I realized I had received these letters from my old address every month just about. When I called to locate the source of error, it was this medical center that gave them the incorrect numbers and name. I haven’t even received any assistance on how to fix these errors. I still receive these threating letters as the present continues. The only number I had for this office was ###-###-####. After calling numerous times, I spoken to a new receptionist by August 2013 claiming she had sent messages to the doctors, [redacted], [redacted] and [redacted] and manager, [redacted]. No communication from the billing department or management office is evident. The receptionist gave me an email {[redacted]} and fax number {###-###-####} to contact for the release of my records with my name, date of birth and my last 4 ssn. I also added in the email that it was imperative that someone gives me a call as soon as possible. The receptionist then told me she would call back, as usual, to send me my invoices as well. They gave no response on either part. I haven’t even received any information from the billing department so I could at least submit my own claim. They refuse to send me any of my paperwork, medical files or even my invoices. I have been requesting all since March 2013. In September 2013, I called for a refill prescription out of state and the receptionist told me that I had to go to the pharmacy again and ask to speak to the pharmacist. I told her no I was not going back to the pharmacy, where I just left and in fact the office call and speak with her. She informed me that she would have to call the doctor and ask for permission. Less then 10 minutes later, she called back telling me fix the prescription error. I asked her if she had spoken to the doctor, she said yes, I asked her if he was going to give me a call today and she told me she just didn’t know. She started having no hope for me either. She told me to call back at an estimated time of when the manager might be in. I asked her why she just couldn’t call me and she told me again, she didn’t know. At the time of my first appointment in August 2012, I was only a seventeen-year-old freshman with a full college schedule. [redacted] enlighten me by giving me motherly advice claiming she was young once and understood that all of this may be confusing to me and not to worry that she would make sure that everything is finalized. Now August 2013, a year later, I am starting my last term in college and will graduating in December. The last time I spoken to [redacted], the manager was March of 2013. No communication since then only with the receptionist where she always asks me if I spoken to someone of management position from the office, I always say no and she always gives a nice response and says she will past the message. I really just want my reimbursements back from the first appointment. Their motto is “A Commitment to Women’s Health” and I haven’t felt more ill and frustrated before in my entire life.Desired Settlement: I really just want my reimbursements back from the first appointment. An estimate of about $3000, I would be more accurate but the office refuses to send me my invoices and other important information.

Review: I have visited this office on two different occasions for an examination that is covered 100% by my Health Insurance, The Well Woman examination. On both occasions, the office has charged me a $40.00 copay - something that I should never have to pay because my insurance covers this basic Well Woman Examination.

I was very clear with this office that I only was there for the basic examination that my insurance covers, and for nothing else. The office proceeded to perform labs on me, that I would have only ever requested if I was ill, or was present at the office for some kind of discomfort. Again, I was only there for a basic examination that falls under the Well Woman examination. Because of these examinations, and the way that they have coded my visits, they were able to charge me $40.00 on two different examinations, and now I also have to pay for labs that are not covered for by my insurance. Labs that I never asked for, nor needed because I never expressed any discomfort or illness, labs that now total $407.09

They clearly go about performing unnecessary exams, and intentionally disregard patients that ask to only be examined for a Well Woman examination, so that they can charge copays.

I have tried to work with this office, but they do not return calls, or answer messages. When they claimed that they would reimburse me, they never did.Desired Settlement: I want to be reimbursed in full for the payments that I've made towards these labs, as well as for my copays a total of approximately $487.09.

Response:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Manhattan Women's Medical Offices regarding complaint ID [redacted].Sincerely,[redacted]

Review: the company informed me that I would receive a full refund on my purchase of a medical pill once my insurance paid the amount off. So I payed $550.00 on a debit card, as well as them billing my insurance to see if they would except the charges. I was told after the insurance cleared the bill I would receive a full refund. It has been over a week that I've been calling this business and I still haven't received a refund or even been able to reach anyone in order to discuss my refund. I've been getting the run around about no one being available to do the return. Each time I call I am told that the manager who is "in charge of giving the refunds" isn't available. I'm tired of the back and forth and just want my money backDesired Settlement: I would like a full refund back on my debit card, or cash.
