Review: My vehicle needed repair for a blown head gasket. The mechanic took a month and a half. He also asked for money half way through the process to purchase parts. The day after I picked up my car it would constantly not start. I've been back and forth from the shop with the car a few times, the mechanic couldn't figure out what was wrong. I finally had it towed to the Volvo dealership and paid $150 for a diagnostic. It was leaking oil out of the engine and a problem with the immobilizer. The manager and mechanic from Manix offer to pick up the car and do the repairs. It sat in the shop for another week. Then they called to have my boyfriend find and purchase a part for the car to finish. I haven't been able to use my car for the last three months. The mechanic refuses to speak to me during the process because he doesn't speak English, so he only contacted my boyfriend. I've only spoke with the manager a few times. This has went on for way to long. If it was going to take three months, and my car is not even fixed, they should've at least rented me a car.Desired Settlement: I would like my car to be fixed in a timely and efficient manner at a different shop. And I would like a refund for the diagnostic from the Volvo Dealership. Manix should rent me a vehicle in the mean time for waiting so long.

Response:

On 11/10/14, I received car on a tow truck. The customers [redacted] stated car did not start and overheated. On 11/12/14 mechanic contacted customer and informed auto would be diagnosed and on 11/13/14. Customer arrived to shop and Mechanic explained issues of auto. Customer hesitated of cost repairs and would inform Mechanic at a later date. On 11/24/14 customer made a down payment to repair auto. Due to repairs mechanic informed [redacted] that would take an estimated 20 days to repair (warp engine head and being a Volvo would take longer). Engine was open and discovered a faulty cam shaft pulley. Per telephone Mechanic informed [redacted] and [redacted] stated he would find part to replace. Same day [redacted] called Mechanic and unable to find part and declined to replace cam shaft pulley. On 12/6/14 customer picked-up car and Mechanic informed [redacted] that car needed a new battery and again needed to replace cam shaft pulley. Two weeks later customer returned car due to off/on starting. Customer left car several days and Mechanic found no problems starting. After 12/25/14 customer again returned car and still off/on starting problems. Mechanic inspected car and this time diagnostic showed immobilizer system was an issue. Unable to repair and informed customer this was a dealer repair. On 1/9/15 customer stated vehicle was at Volvo dealer and unable to start car. We picked up car at dealership and stared car and drove to my shop. Dealership found oil leak, issue with immobilizer system and a faulty battery. Oil leak was due to the faulty cam shaft pulley. Again [redacted] agreed to find a used part to replace. On 1/21/14 Mr. [redacted], from BBA arrived at my shop to inform me of customer complaint. Demanded that we fix car immediately. So I bought the cam shaft pulley part and battery (no charge to customer per Mr. [redacted]). On 1/23/15, I informed Mr. [redacted] car was repaired and to have customer pick-up car. Customer could not pick-up car and directly I called [redacted] and informed her I would stay after hours for her to pick up car! The main problem to the not start of engine was due to the faulty battery!!!! Manix Auto Shop [redacted]
