Almost killed my wife
Wife went in after brain surgery and they failed to give her proper medicine which caused more damage to her brain, no physical therapy , she came out after 30 days in worse shape than when she went in, got covid while she was there. Sent her home when she still had 70 days of rehab from insurance left, home less than 24 hours before had to put her back in hospital for 24 days so they could fix all the damage manor care did to her. Never put anyone in manor care if you want them to live. I am suing them

Spouse of a patient that was in Manor Care Washington Twsp
My personal experience with Manor Care is not a good one. My husband spent 3 weeks there with very limited PT. All they did was just to see what he could do but not really see what he couldn't do. He should of had more extensive PT. Not go up and down 2 steps a few times or ride a bike for 3 minutes. Manor Care is not the place for anyone needing more aggressive PT. I was also lied to by a PT about my husband. She said that he was doing better but he wasn't. She said that he could get in and out of bed by himself and he couldn't. She also told my husband and I that he would not get any better. That is a real nice thing to tell a patient. The PT said that he was ready to go home because he couId walk 50ft with a walker with someone walking behind him. I was also lied to by the administrator. I had to call there almost everyday for something that was supposed to be done but wasn't. Basically they were trying to pacify me, but it didn't work. And I guess they were calling my husband a liar. He doesn't have dementia. Like my husband was told to pee in his diaper by an aid. So he did. The administrator said that she talked to the aid and the aid said that he was dry. But he wasn't. Those aids need to go back to school and learn the right way to treat a patient. Some of the RN's need to be educated about when someone needs pain meds it is't 8 or more hrs later. My husband needed at first his pain meds every 6 hrs then changed to every 4. He had to ask for them every time. But when he did it took forever to get what he needed. He has chronic pain and needs these meds. How would they like it if it were their parent, grandparent or other relative that wasn't getting the care that so much needed. At first when my husband was admitted there I thought that it would just take some time for him to get the proper PT and care that he needed. Didn't happen. I was lied to, my husband sat in wet diapers, had terrible PT, and didn't get his meds all the time when he needed them. We really thought that it would get better with time. I will not ever recommend this facility to anyone. Would you want your love one to go through what my husband did?

Review: I am writing on behalf of my mother, [redacted] has been in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) for several years now as the result of a stroke, which rendered her left side totally non-responsive, and devastated her financial situation, which now includes only government programs and no private or secondary insurance. She has been relatively comfortable and minimally provided for as a result of Medicare and Medical (Share-of Cost). In January of this year, [redacted] was moved from the Manor Care SNF in Citrus Heights to the [redacted] SNF in Lincoln, primarily because the new facility is closer to my sister who is overseeing her care.

In preparing for this transfer, we gathered my mother's belongings. However, the Manor Care staff could no locate two gel-filled wheelchair cushions belonging to [redacted]. When my brother purchased these cushions for [redacted], we logged them into the personal property register, as required, and marked each cushion with her name. These cushions are designed with a significant, special cutout. Because [redacted] is wheelchair bound, this cushion design provides her with badly-needed coccyx relief, which is precisely why we purchased them in the first place.

The Manor Care staff has said Manor Care will reimburse us for the cost of the cushions, provided we supply a receipt showing the purchase cost. This is not possible, as the cushions were purchased by my brother two years ago during a visit from Florida. Manor Care's social worker told us that in this case, an estimate of replacement cost would suffice. We provided one to Manor Care, from the same store at which the cushions were originally purchased. To date, no reimbursement has been made.

I have written Manor Care several times regarding this problem, but they remain mute and have not answered my queries in any form. When asked face-to-face, their representatives say they cannot do anything without a receipt.

We have also been in conflict over what Manor Care purports to be are residual bill of $48.00, which they claim results from a change in the share-of-cost arrangement of October, November, and December of 2013 at an increase of $16.00 per month. However, as the enclosed copy of the MediCal Notice of Acton shows, that change in share-of-cost was not effective until 01/01/2014 , the month my mother changed to another SNF. The $48.00 is simply not a legitimate debt. However, Manor Care has not sent it to collections!

This has gone on long enough. Without getting into the litany of other concerns about my mother's care while a patient at Manor Care, we simply want cancellation of this purported debt and reimbursement of $118.00 for their negligence regarding their fiduciary responsibility for a patient's property.Desired Settlement: Please assist us in closing this chapter of my mother's care. Attached is a copy of the referenced MediCal Notice of Action.

Response:

This account has a zero balance and no monies are owed. The $118.00 that has been requested to reimburse for personal property has been turned into our insurance company for reimbursement. Complaintant is aware of this information and is satisfied with my response. Thank you for the opportunity to make a difference.
