Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: The company is dishonest in their response and inaccurate stating what I said in conversation with them. The first thing I will address is their statement that the locksmith will give me a price before working on the key. The locksmith did not give me a price before completing the work. On arrival, I agreed to let the locksmith look at my vehicle. He told me several times that he was going to see if he could save me money, no price indicated, no price range, he just repeated that he thinks he can save me money, if he can find some code on his own. I got a price less than 30 minutes after he started, and it was way too high. I asked him how it went from $120 to $322, and he said that he isn't able to talk about pricing. I then asked how much he would charge me to go and he said it would be full price because he was nearly done. I then called my insurance company to try to have them send another company that they have given me before which charges 189 total price. Before I could finish calling my insurance company, the locksmith told me he was done. I was never given the option to refuse service as they stated, and they did not say this on the call I made to them, as they claim and as I said I have the recordings to prove it.They state that I made no attempt to ask for an estimate before work was completed, but both customer service and the tech told me that he would have to look at the "condition" to find out how much they would charge. I tried to verify the price of $120 with the tech, but he said he won't know how much it will be until he looks at it, but he will try to save me money by finding some "code". They claim that I responded "I don't know," when they asked me why I would let someone work on my car for 30 minutes without getting a price. This is false. I told them that I don't know a locksmiths job and what it entails. I don't know how long it should take to get a price, I had no way of knowing that the locksmith was working on a key for my vehicle and was not checking the condition for 30 minutes and as I stated previously, he kept telling me he was going to save me money if he could find some code. That indicates to me that he is checking it out, and trying to do me a favor and save me some money. He told me that it could take several hours if he couldn't get this code on his own. He also told me that they were so cheap and that dealers charge so much more etc. Customer service said I should have called them about the price while the tech was there. As I told them, I wasn't going to sit and argue over price with the technician, as he stated that he had no control over pricing. I don't think many technicians do have control over pricing. I called customer service because my problem was with them. They knew that the price would not be anywhere near $120. I addressed this with them as they quote the lowest starting price then charge far more than their competition. This is fraudulent pricing. They told me that they knew there would be a service call fee of $29, which wasn't included in the starting price, but was certainly going to be charged and also a "code" fee, which they also knew was going to be charged in addition to the $120 charge for the key. There was another unknown fee of $45, which I was unable to ascertain what it is or if they knew it would be charged. This indicates that their actual starting price should have been $218, this is based on what they knew at the time I called. They lied and told me their starting price was $120, which led me to use their company. If they had been honest and given me a starting price of $218, I would have surely gone with their competition that charges $189 final price. For this reason I called requesting to pay what the competition charges. The company refused to acknowledge my request, so I later requested to give them the key and they give me a refund and I will use their competition. They refused. I think their should be criminal charges brought against this company for fraud. They sent me recordings from our initial calls which prove that they did tell me the starting price was $120. Later they refused to send me further recordings, so I recorded later conversations myself.

We have spoken with the customer plenty of times and he feels like he should get all his money back and we told him no because our tech was there for an hour he cut him a key and program it.  when he called yes we told him the starting price just to cut a key is 120 meaning it can go up and we...

also told him that when the tech get there he will check the car condition then a full price will be given to him with the trip charge included and also let him know he have the right to refuse the service. now when the tech made it onsite the customer did not make any efforts on telling the tech listen I don't need this fix I just need an estimate of how much this will cost me to get it fix. now when we asked him why would you allow someone to be in your car for 30 to an hr without telling him hey listen I simply need a price? he said oh well I didn't know.  now I do understand the frustration and I sincerely do apologize  for the inconvenience but the customer should have called us while the tech was onsite and he shouldn't pay him. now he signed after the tech told him the price and pay.
