The customer came to us asking us to replace the battery in their [redacted] ***. We ordered a battery and once they cam in to get it replaced we realized it was in fact an [redacted] 2 and needed to order a different battery. When the second battery arrived, they brought in the [redacted] and we went to swap out... the battery. During removal of the battery one of the ribbons on the screen ripped and the digitizer was no longer responsive to touch. I informed the customer of this and let them know that we would order them a new screen at no cost to them. When the new screen came in it we replaced the screen but the home button on the [redacted] was not working so we labeled the screen as defective and asked our vendor for a new one. It took some time to get here but once it did we attempted the repair again. Only this time there was no response at all. The digitizer wasn't only not working but the LCD was not even lighting up. My only conclusion after multiple attempts to make it work was that the connectors on the motherboard got damaged by the constant disconnect and re connection of the screen. I spoke with the other co-owner and we agreed to file an insurance claim. We filed our claim, the insurance company eventually called to interview us about the incident and let use know it could take up to two weeks for the claim to process. I requested updates as often as available and informed the customer everyday when they called or came in that we were waiting on the insurance company. After about two weeks the claim went through and a brand new [redacted] 2 was purchased for the customer. We kept them up to date on the known tracking status and they were able to pick it up the moment it was delivered.
