Initial Business Response /* (1000, 9, 2016/04/05) */
Mapleside truly regrets the consumer's experience during the delayed construction of the Barn wedding venue. Unfortunately the 3 month delay was caused by uncontrollable, rainy weather conditions during the spring and summer wile trying to...

construct the concrete foundation. Mapleside took full responsibility for the construction delays every step of the consumer's experience. At the GM's first meeting with the consumer August, it was communicated to the consumer the Barn venue would definitely not be finished in time for their wedding. We took full responsibility for the unfortunate situation and promised to do everything we could to provide an alternative venue. The GM offered them Mapleside's finished 8,000 square foot "Lodge Venue" for the consumer to use as an option for their wedding reception. At the same meeting the consumer expressed their disappointment in the price of the exclusive catering and the only reason they chose to use Mapleside and the exclusive outside catering company was so they could have their wedding in our future Barn venue. Specifically they pointed out the 20% service fee charged by the caterer as being a problem. After the meeting the GM informed them Mapleside would be happy to pay half of the 20% service fee as part of the compromise to use the Lodge Venue. As the event drew closer, the Barn construction had made up a little time and was showing hope of a partial completion. The GM of Mapleside offered the consumers to have their wedding in the partially completed barn and met with them to tour the barn to insure their expectations would be ok with every detail of the partially completed condition. The consumers agreed to have their wedding in the uncompleted Barn. A heated and cooled luxury restroom trailer was rented for $1,500 as an alternative to the unfinished bathrooms. 5 commercial heaters were rented and installed in the barn for heat. Temporary electricity was installed, and sufficient LED lighting and Edison bulb strings were installed. Drapery for curtains were installed to cover open windows and doors. The Barn was painted red to replace the uninstalled siding and a rustic straw pathway was created as an entrance to the barn. Every extra expense for rentals, contractors for installation and other labor was covered by Mapleside and the barn was discounted from $2,500 down to 1,250.00 a 50% discount. The same night after the event the GM personally asked the consumer (groom) how everything went and he stated "better than he expected".
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 19, 2016/06/13) */
Mapleside did not address all of the issues we brought up and at no point do they address the non disclosure agreement. Simply writing down things that were done in an attempt to fix their mistakes does not make this situation any better. Mapleside having to pay extra expense to rent a portable bathroom is not something for them to be proud of. And all of the meetings mentioned were schedule by us because of their communications breakdown. The lighting was not sufficient and the electricity was not adequate.
Mapleside did not take full responsibility for the barn not being completed. This is shown when we had no idea the barn was eight weeks behind schedule until we called the catering company to ask a question about parking. Had we not done that, we would not have found out. Taking responsibility is contacting the wedding couple and informing them that things are behind schedule. We put a lot of trust in Mapleside and we were kept in the dark.
The best indication of Mapleside not understanding the situation is by ending this with a quote that says the groom's wedding experience was "better than expected". This quote is in no way a compliment to Mapleside. Better than expected in this situation means that nobody was seriously injured walking down the mudding hill path to the barn and that nobody left the wedding with a broken leg because the handrails leading up to the second level were not finished and fully supported. If that is the grading scale, then yes, the wedding was better than expected. However, next time that Mapleside decides to quote someone, consider that proper documentation needs to be provided. All of our quotes had audio recordings to back them up.
Something to also keep in mind is that [redacted] first responded to our Revdex.com complaint and in this complaint it was stated that the groom "attempted to shake down the owner of Mapleside". We have the audio recordings and there is no shake down in there. If anyone has questions about this, simply contact us. This is another example of Mapleside and their exclusive catering company not communicating. [redacted] has not helped Mapleside's reputation and have not been held accountable.
