navigation screen the disc was spinning and would not connect to radio or navigation screen- just kept spinning. We repaired the check engine light by replacing the ABS actuator that was covered by a warranty enhancement. We also recommended to replace all 4 spark plugs due to mileage, change oil and filter and perform a multi point inspection. We informed the customer that the vehicle needed front brake over haul and rear brake caliper replace due to sticking. We also noted on the repair order that the right side mirror was damaged and that the navigation/radio were inop.
The customer came back to the dealer complaining that the radio did not work. We explained that was the way it was before we started working on vehicle. We rechecked all the fuses for the radio and tried reprogramming the radio but the failure is internal in the radio/navigation unit and would need to be replaced. We explained that to the customer and he became irate claiming it is our fault. He feels it is because his ABS failed and that caused his radio to fail also. We explained that the two units are separate and nothing could cause the other to fail.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
First, the car was towed there because it was not safe to drive. Second, a a total loss of power (engine was still running but the hydraulics failed and all warning lights, including the engine came on while driving. That is, the engine light was never on before this general failure happened and all lights, including the engine came on. second, The radio was working before this general failure. I don't know what kind of issue it caused to the radio. But I assure you that the radio and the screen was 100% working. The only thing that was not working there is the navigation system. But it didn't impact the radio and other functionality of the screen except this frightful incident happened. So, To me the issue is simple, the radio was working before this incident and my radio is not working now after I dropped it off. I think Toyota should live up to its responsibility instead of making the customer feel like he is liar. And the next step is going to court because the experience that we went through with this firefighting should be made public because it is a public safety issue when a car just looses 99% its power in the middle of the road.
