Marathon Gas Station

Review: I made a $10 check out to cash for a contractor I hired. He proceeded to cash the check at the Marathon gas station on First St in Neenah WI on November 18th 2015. I noticed on my bank statement that the business electronically withdrew $6.58 even though the check was for $10. I didn't think about it again until I noticed another charge from this business on November 24th. This time for $10 using the same check number. I immediately called the bank and they issued a stop payment on the $6.58 transaction because it never took place. At that point I thought the headache was over. Until December 10th, 2015 when I received a letter from a collection agency for the $6.58 plus $25 for a returned check fee. I spoke with the owner of the company who insisted I bring in my bank records. I've contacted the Neenah Police Department but they said it is a civil matter since I'm not out any money YET. I completely disagree, this business made fraudulent charges to my account and have been less than accommodating in fixing THEIR mistake.Desired Settlement: I want them to tell the collection agency to cease and desist with regards to the $6.58 fraudulent transaction they deducted.
