Review: On June 29th I purchased a Sea-Doo Spark with a Karavan Trailer Combo. We drove the personal watercraft(PCW) home where it remained in the garage until the 12th of July when we decided to take the PCW to Hogan Lake. We hitched the trailer to our vehicle and headed to the lake 20 minutes out the tire left tire flew off and the trailer and sea-doo went down, we were able to pull over to a safe area at about a hundred feet. A vehicle following behind was able to retrieve the tire and we jack up the trailer but realized all the lug nuts were missing. The right side of the trailer has loose lugs. A passer by happen to have a few extra lugs so were able to put at least 4 on each side and make it to the lake. The PCW was in the water for approximately an hour and I decided to put in reverse and heard a loud noise act acting strange. We loaded the PWC to the trailer. The following business day we contacted Mariana Boats & PowerSports and told them the issue, they advised to bring in so they could check it out and apologized for the inconvenience. Upon dropping off the water craft the owner and salesperson apologized and said they would check the PWC out and fix the trailer. On Friday July 17th we called as told to do and they informed us that they were programming the PWC because it was not done prior. On July 21st, Bill called to come in to inform us that they believed a rock might have caused the damage to the sea-doo, we ask if they found a rock and they said no. The trailer remained in the same condition and they also denied responsibility for the trailer not having proper installed tires. They said I was responsible for checking this. I asked to see the rock that caused the damage they said they did not have it. I left with a sea doo in parts and a damaged trailer. The owner or Marina Boats & PowerSports said that it wasn't his responsibility to fix any of it and call Sea-Doo, if repairs were done by him he would charge $1200.Desired Settlement: We would like the trailer repaired or replaced and the Sea-Doo to be repaired as well. We would also like the Sea-Doo programmed properly as it should have been from the beginning. The checklist with the work report indicates that the sea-doo was never serviced properly to leave the facility as required. Warranties/program checklist were also never explained or signed off by supervisor or owner.

These are two separate issues and neither have anything to do with the other. Trailer lug nuts need to be tightened every 100 miles until you get approximately 1500 miles on the trailer. This stickers on both wheels state this but trying to provide great customer service I told the customer, as did [redacted] my service manager, we would gladly fix the trailer. Upon inspecting the trailer underneath, there is zero physical damage or any damage showing any signs that the trailer ever touched the ground. Still, [redacted] and I both told the customer not to worry we would take care of the trailer. This problem has nothing to do with the issue of the SeaDoo Spark watercraft. The SeaDoo Spark is new and under warranty. Warranty does not cover sucking something up in the impeller jet pump. When we removed the Jet pump, upon inspection it was clear that a rock had been sucked up the intake causing damage to the impeller and the fins of the pump unit. I told [redacted]. that this in fact happened to me the second time out on my Spark and I have had watercraft since I was 17. The customer was NEVER quoted $1200 for a repair. In fact I personally called the Ray Jr and told him I would have my service department fix the watercraft at my cost of $590 plus tax. [redacted], who does not own the ski but picked it up was the one threatening a law suit etc. I talked to Elk Grove Powersports today and apparently [redacted] took the watercraft to their shop and they told them exactly what I told them. The watercraft is damaged from inadvertently sucking up a rock or debris through the pump damaging the impeller and jet fins. Even if the watercraft fell off a trailer, damage to the internal fins and impeller would be impossible. Apparently [redacted] did not like Elk Grove Powersports answer either and he left their shop without the watercraft being repaired. When talking to [redacted] he seems to indicate we are being more than fair in the repairs and cost and he actually wanted us to do the work but stated his father is making a big deal out of the situation. Revdex.com is welcome to call Elk Grove Powersports and confirm the damage or needed repairs. Not many shops would repair a watercraft at their hard cost. I am reluctant now to do any work on the watercraft now with all of the threats from [redacted] directed towards Marina Boats & Powersports. [redacted]OwnerMarina Boats & Powersports

Review: Told by sales rep [redacted] and owner [redacted] that the motor would and could handle the boat I purchased. The motor is grossly under powered.

Purchased an Alumacraft 145 Fisherman from Marina Boats and Powersports. The boat was first discussed at the March 2013 boat show at Cal Expo Sacramento. I offered my concern about the 20hp motor that the boat was equipped with to both the sales rep [redacted] and the business owner [redacted]. Both assured me that the boat would perform without any problem. I was asked what and how I planned to use the boat to which I responded mostly fishing in the high Sierras. The boat is grossly under powered and will not perform at any elevation. In Sacramento the boat just plows with more than one adult. In the mountains it just plows along and will not plane at all. The boat is great but the combo with the 20hp Mercury motor is a terrible match. I asked about larger motors to which [redacted] stated he didn't have any but it would cost $1000 to increase the motor from 20 to 25hp. This would normally be just a few hundred dollars. I feel they had a "White Elephant" and now it belongs to me. The product was grossly misrepresented. I have emailed owner [redacted] at [redacted]@pacbell.net to express my dissatisfaction.. This was the email address on his business card given to me at the boat show. Not sure that PacBell exists anymore. The boat was purchased new 3/13/2013. I paid for the boat. Desired Settlement: Purchase a suitable motor for the boat. The difference in the price of a new motor and the one on the boat new. Not a used trade in value due to their misrepresentation of the product.

The Alumacraft 145 Fisherman is Alumacrafts entry level side console boat and is nationally advertised with a 20hp motor. It is a fishing boat and not a fast boat. It is one of Alumacrafts top 5 selling models.

It is my normal practice to tell our customers that there is a loss of about 15% power when going up to 6000 foot elevation but do not recall Mr. [redacted] discussing boating in the high sierras at the boat show.

This is the first complaint that I know of for performance of the 20hp motor. I have checked with our service manager and we have no record of a performance complaint from Mr. [redacted]. We would be glad to check it out to make sure it is operating properly and if there is a service issue we will get it fixed. If it is operating properly, and he is still not happy with the performance,I would be happy to upgrade the engine for the difference in the price of the engine which is about $800.00. I don't know where Mr. [redacted] came up with a couple hundred dollars but we can show you the actual price difference in the engines.

I've researched all my emails and have not missed any from [redacted] in my inbox or spam files or I would have returned one to him. Please ask Mr. [redacted] to call me personally or email me and I will do my best to accommodate him.

Consumer's Final Response

My issues with this complaint have been resolved. They were handled and corrected satisfactorily by owner [redacted]. My last complaint was my misunderstanding and not Mr. [redacted]'s fault. I feel he has acted professionally and corrected fairly my original problem with the equipment I purchased from his business. Please remove my complaint from his Revdex.com account and copy him per my request.

Sincerely,

Business' Final Response

I do not know what the problem is but I still have not received a email from Mr. [redacted]. I would be more than happy to try and resolve his complaint if he would call me or give me his email and I will try that. It is hard to satisfy a customer if we cannot talk and this Revdex.com complaint was the first we knew there was a issue. Thank You, [redacted]
