Do NOT deal with Mariner Finance
I was not looking for a loan, but Mariner Finance mailed me an offer PRE_APPROVED for $3000. I applied for $1800 thinking I would go visit my son in NC. I did not hear from them, so I called and was advised the application, the pre-approved application was denied. The reasons they gave would have been legit except I had spent the last four years paying off all credit card debt. Don't deal with a company like this.

Don’t use them
Got a loan through Mariner Finance and ended up out of work over six months due to having major surgery. I notified them and once I was back at work I completed all of my payments. So it was paid in full. But this company will not remove the charge off from my credit report. They really just dgaf about their customers. It’s their policy so my advice is to get a loan elsewhere. If for any reason you’re late on your payments I wouldn’t pay at all because once they send to credit bureaus it’s there for 7 years regardless. Poor customer service.

Add on to their reply: I called your customer service and that’s what they told me that it was going to remain on my credit report 7 years regardless of the fact that I had major surgery and that it was paid in full. Once again poor customer service. If they really wanted to help their customers they could remove it from your credit report but once again their policy is that they won’t

Do Not Trust Mariner Financial
These sharks will serve court papers if you miss 3 payments due to any hardship. Will do a hard credit check as retribution if they do not like you or they just felt like screwing up you credit score. They will secretly 3 way other employees during your phone conversations without your consent, then lie about it when reported. The worst financial institution ever created.

Review: I got a pre-approved check for a $ 1.200 loan in the mail. I went to their office as their coupon said that I can get extra 500 dollars in addition to the pre approve loan amount. Wehn I went there the guy who is the manager sweet talked me. He then made me sign papers without properly thoroughly explaining what they were. He did not discuss the actual loan amount and the terms of payment until I finished signing the papers. It turned out that they gave me a $ 1.800 loan but on the check I got only $ 1,500. the other went into an insurance that they never thoroughly explained. Then I was told after I was made to sign the loan contract that loan term was 44 months at 67 dollars per month. I computed it and that will be equivalent to almost more than double the money they loaned me. Realizing that Mariner Finance tricked me into paying excessive interest, I decided to return the 1500 dollars I loaned. I called them only to be told that I owe them now $ 1753.01. I was surprised that they already charged me $ 253.01 interest for just having the loan for 2 weeks !!! This is usery and taking advantage of me. I paid the entire loan amount plus the interest they charged but it is so unfair for consumers that they do this !!!Desired Settlement: I demand a refund of the $ 253.01 excessive interest they charged me for just having the loan for 2 weeks. I never owed them this money !!!

Review: I bought an air conditioner from a local company and had a 12 month same as cash line of credit through Mariner Finance. There is no monthly statement given to me, just a coupon book. If I pay in the 12 months there is no interest. Each month I pay my bills by the first of the month and mail all my bills off at once so my bill was mailed each month. I was given no option other than mail. I just called to get a pay off amount and was told that my January payment which I wrote on January 1 and mailed on the 2nd was not cashed by them until January 28th so they have been forced to pay them $532.67 in fraudulent interest payments.

I lodged a complaint a manager who did nothing...I also called the company who I bought the air conditioner from because they need to know who they are dealing with. However the air conditioner company was closed so I left a message with a call center person. She assured me that she would let them know. I am not looking for anything from the air conditioner company I just want them to know.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my interest payment. They could have left that check sit there for weeks...how would I know. There is no method for me to check on it.

Review: I received a loan from Mariner in June of 2014. I fell upon hard times in Sept of 2014 and was unable to make my payments on time. Mariner than took me to court without my knowledge and I received a judgment of $1,708. My wages were then attached so the payment was collected from my employer every two weeks. I called and spoke to the branch manager of the Bear DE office and he assured me that once the $1,708 was paid off the judgment would be satisfied with the credit bureau. The 1,708 was paid off in May of 2015. I noticed in August of 2015 the debt had not been satisfied with the credit bureau. I then called Mariner and was told I had a balance of $181 because of interest accrued. I don't see how I can have a balance when I was told once the $1708 was paid it would be marked satisfied. I was never told there would be interest accrued every day that there was still a balance.Desired Settlement: Billing correction to a zero balance and for Mariner to show that the judgment was satisfied with the credit bureau.

Here are the facts. We made a personal loan to Mr. [redacted] on 6/26/2014.Mr. [redacted] made 2 payments on his own in 9 months. The last 5 payments made were by wage garnishment thru the Delaware JP Courts after obtaining a judgment on12/16/2014. The principal balance plus interest and any court fees constitute the payoff. This can be obtained by calling our Legal Department at [redacted] They will also be able to give you the payment record as well.
