Mario and Mario Construction Reviews (1)

Avoid this contractor at all costs. He left our Kitchen remodel unfinished and most materials installed improperly. When they do show up they work minimal hours. The 3 week, start to finish contracted schedule was delayed to 3 months. To my surprise upon coming home at the tail end of the project I find the contractor had pulled out. He abandoned our project to work on another contract. He left debris and construction materials littered on our lawn for over a month. Upon rescheduling to finish he was a no show - no call. We had to add expense by hiring a reputable contractor to fix and finish the job that was abandoned by Mario and Mario ConstructionStay Away at all costs.Desired SettlementHave balance settled minus the costs that I incurred to finish contract correctly.Business Response Mr.[redacted] served as general contractor therefore was solely responsible for timeline which included delays such as Mr. [redacted] ordering wrong size kitchen cabinets which had to be reordered , additional work requested such as removing existing ceiling, reinforcing ceiling joists and installing insulation, removing existing subfloor, reinforcing floor joists to level floor before installing tile floor and a 3 week delay for granite countertop installation before contractor could install tile backsplash. Homeowner provided most of the materials for project. On [redacted] homeowner was to have grout for backsplash on jobsite by noon. Contractor left jobsite at 330pm. when the homeowner fail to show. Homeowner called contractor later that evening.Contractor stated he had already planned his job for the next day and would be available to complete project (approx.3 hours) the following Mon. or Tues. Homeowner stated his wife was working from home the following week so no work could be done. Contractor told homeowner to call when it could be scheduled. No further calls were made by homeowner. Contractor made repeated calls on [redacted] and ** leaving several messages.Cell phone records are available.Mr.[redacted] did not respond to schedule the final 3 hours of work on the project and pay the final installment.Contractor suggested the homeowner use a dumpster for debris. Homeowner refused. Homeowner began demolition of kitchen himself to save money and placed the debris on his own lawn. Contractor then offered to haul it away in his trailer for the cost of dumping fees which were about $100 per load. Two loads were removed. The third and final load was to be removed with the final 3 hours remaining on the project.Mr. [redacted] never told contractor of any work that was not to his satisfaction. Contractor was not allowed to complete job or given the opportunity to make and necessary adjustment to the homeowners complete satisfaction.Substantial balance remains unpaid on this contract and appropriate legal action will be taken if final balance is not received.
