Marion Plumbing & Heating Reviews (1)

I started to lose hot water in a short period of time while taking a showerThe service person of Marion Plumbing and Heating claimed it wasn't the hot water tank but a shower pressure valve and advised me to call a plumberThe plumber we hired from a different company told me the shower pressure valve was not at issue and advised me to replace the hot water tankI called the company that I lease my hot water tank from, who contracts Marion plumbing and heating, and the company told the owner of Marion Heating and Plumbing with the updated info
The owner then proceeds to call my mother when he cannot reach meHe speaks to my mother in a brusque and abrupt tone, demanding of her what exactly does she want them to do She responds that she is not an expert and doesn't know what to do
I call the owner back and he denied that he spoke to my mother (who lives with me) in such a fashion and accused her of lying to me He then defended his company's actions by saying my mother and I failed to give them adequate information to properly diagnose the problem we were experiencing, even though he admitted that he himself never stepped foot in our house, and that his diagnostic questions were vague and could be mis-interpreted by someone with no plumbing or heating experience
When the hot water tank was eventually replaced, a strange odor immediately began to emanate from the room where the hot water tank and gas furnace is locatedNot knowing what the smell was, we called the gas utility and we were told to evacuate my house until it could be determined if it was safe The gas utility serviceman determined that there was no gas leaking and the smell was probably coming from the new hot water tank He told me that I did the right thing by calling the gas utility and advised me to call the company who installed the hot water tank (Marion Plumbing and Heating)
The owner of Marion Heating and Plumbing was dismissive of my concerns during my phone conversation; he told me that sometimes the hot water tanks burns off a small coating of oil after sitting in storage He told me that I should have called him first instead of calling the gas utility, which goes against the advice I was given by both the gas utility and the company that leased the hot water tankWhen I reiterated to the owner I was a first time home owner and smelled something strange in a house that is heated by natural gas, he chuckled and said, "fair enough"I also asked him why the two men who installed the new hot water tank didn't warn me that there might be a strange odor, to which he told me that most people don't even notice the smell, again in a manner I felt was a dismissive attitude
I am not convinced that this company is good at diagnosing issues related to hot water tanks because they did not take the time to try to identify the root cause, which is what about experienced plumber from a different did for usWe spent money for services that were not necessary as a result, and caused extended discomfort to my family as we had to spend a longer period of time to restore hot water to our house (during December in New England)
