We are a nationally recognized survey research organization at [redacted] College in Poughkeepsie, New YorkWe call both land lines and cell phones using randomly generated phone numbers for the purpose of conducting public opinion pollsWe only conduct surveys with household residents or cell phone owners that use their phones for personal useWhen we are advised (which in this case we were not) that it is a business number we immediately remove the number from our listAs a survey research organization we are also exempt from the "do not call list," however when we are specifically asked to remove the individual from our call list we do so - in this case we were not initially asked to remove the number, which is why the individual received subsequent callsWe certainly apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused the individual

Review: I was registered for a semester in March 20014. I faxed over a doctor’s note to college explaining that I cannot continue with class. Within a few Months after I thought all was resolved? I started getting phone calls form a collection Agency. I am currently attending [redacted] and with my name being involved in collections. It might affect my schooling in the future. My request was neglected. My [redacted] was accepted for the course and I am told it was declined, and I have to pay for a course I did not take. Please advice.Desired Settlement: I would like them to be contacted and I would like them to remove the 2nd semester course that they are saying that I owe them for. I have documentation where it shows that I could not proceed with school because of a medical condition

Review: I have been receiving persistent calls from the number ###-###-#### which is directly associated with the Marist Poll under Marist College. I answered once and told them I have no interest in receiving these calls and to take me off the distribution list. In the next few hours I received over a half dozen calls from this number. Some of these calls were after 9:00p.m. local time, which I believe is the cut off point for telemarketers calling you at night.Desired Settlement: Please advise urgently and do not simply say this is the wrong department as I will persist until this is fully resolved.

Remove me permanently from your distribution list and also advise in detail how and from who you obtained my number to begin with.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We are a college based, educational, survey research center that collects opinions from Americans not a telemarketing company.

Your telephone number was randomly generated and selected from a complete list of telephone numbers in the region we were surveying, New York City. As you requested, it has been added to our Do Not Call List.

Our records for the telephone number you’ve provided do not indicate our call to you was ever answered by someone in your household. If you called the telephone number you saw on your caller ID you would have gotten a supervisor who would have asked you for your telephone number and immediately removed it from our list at your request. If you called after hours and left a message on our voicemail system without also leaving us the telephone number you wanted removed, even if you left your name, we would not have enough information to remove the telephone number. All our calls are anonymous and we have access only to the individual telephone number. No other personal identifying information is associated with any of the telephone numbers.

If you would like to find out more about the surveys we do, you may visit us at [redacted] or contact us at Marist College. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your feedback.

Sincerely,

Survey Operations Manager

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me if and only if I do not ever receive a call from you again. Should I receive a call this case will be hastily re-opened.

Sincerely,
