Just the other day, a friend of mine stopped in the repair shop to get a price for some work to be done to his SUV. Specifically, all he wanted was to have the wheel lugs on his mags replaced. This did not involve removing the wheels. My friend would supply the replacement lugs and, Mr. Allen or his mechanic, would replace the lugs one at a time. The reason for replacing the lugs was to do away with having to find a special thin-wall socket required to remove the custom lugs that came with the wheels. My friend asked how much it would be and Allen's quoted $89.00. Yes you read this correct, $89.00. No mistake. Of course, my friend said 'no'.
Later, at work, after relating to me the story, I decided to call Mr. Allen and asked what it would cost to rotate a set of four tires on an SUV. The price I was given was $20.00.
Both my friend and I are passing this around to our fellow company employees who, by the way, were encouraged to patronize his business. We were told that Mr. Allen would be giving our company a discount. Like other companies in the area, our shirts have our company name on it so Mr. Allen knew where my friend was from. Maybe that was the issue.
Needless to say, we won't be a customer anytime soon. Perhaps if Mr. Allen reads this, he would be willing to offer an explanation.
