[redacted]2008 RAV4 Toyota [redacted] September 28, 2016 Mr. [redacted] came in on August 29, 2016 to have a recall performed on his vehicle RO# [redacted].  A recommendation was given to replace his rear sway bar...

links.   We also advised that in the future he would need to get an oil change and his brakes were wearing down but neither needed at this time see attached.  The Software platform we use gives the technician a choice of items to inspect and recommend off of.  For example, for the sway bar inspection you have 5 observations to choose from: Sway bar bushings excessively worn, Bushings worn, Sway bar link excessively worn/loose, found sway bar link Worn/loose, found way bar link Broken.  The only choice that made sense for the technician is to choose broken.   After discussing with the technician Al S[redacted] who is a Master Toyota Technician of 20 plus years.  The only reason why he would recommend rear sway bar links would be either they have broken and are not attached or that they were bent from impact and the insulators were not protecting the metal to metal contact of the sway bar link to lower control arm.  Brian L[redacted] called [redacted] the same day a comment was left on a general message email for the dealership.  [redacted] discussed how two different facilities had inspected the sway bar links and found them to be tight.   [redacted] mentioned that the sway bar links were bent in the conversation on the phone September 28, 2016.    Deducting from what the Master Toyota technician stated and what Mr. [redacted] has stated the link was bent and the technician chose the only option offered of being broke.   There must have been a miscommunication from the Service Adviser Neal J[redacted] and Al S[redacted] about the link being broken as opposed to bent.   The best repair for the bent link to keep it serviceable would be to replace as recommended.  [redacted] agreed to bring the vehicle in to look at with Brian L[redacted] to review what was recommended.  There were no charges for the Repair Order [redacted] and the inspection was complimentary for [redacted].   [redacted] is to call Brian L[redacted] when it is convenient to review the concern.  Included is a picture of a undamaged area
