First and foremost, my company did NOT rebuilt his transmission. In fact, he came in and asked if we could "check out" his transmission "because it was leaking." My mechanic put the truck up on a rack for a FREE inspection and discovered that it was leaking from a crack in the case of the overdrive...
section of transmission. We then took it for a test drive and the transmission did not shift properly so I informed him that his transmission was shot and needed to be rebuilt. He stated to me that "I've got someone that's gonna buy the truck. Don't wanna put a bunch of money in it. Just fix the leak." I then gave him an estimate of $880. to re-case the overdrive section that he okay'd. During the repair we discovered that his U-joints needed to be replace I called him and he had me talk to his grandfather, [redacted], who okay'd the new total amount with U-joints added of $986. plus tax. I gave him a 60 day/ 6000 mile warranty on parts replaced. He came back in approximately 7/31/17 with another leak. We put his truck back up on the rack for inspection. We found a new leak in the rear output section of the transfer case. It was not leaking from the seal so we suspect there was a crack in the transfer case. In order to repair the crack, the transfer case would have to be removed, inspected, then repaired. (The transfer case is a completely different part than the overdrive section.) He stated that he would have to bring it back later because he didn't have the money to fix it. He came back a few times and stated he didn't have any money but expected us to repair the transfer case for free. We never worked on the transfer case therefore there never was a warranty. It is my opinion the this customer has filed a fraudulent complaint. Wasting both yours and my time. It seems as though he wants something for nothing.
