Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[redacted] never offered any options to fix the leaking roof other than calking, I feel after paying over $17,000.00 for a new roof it should not leak.
[redacted] would not pick a third party roofer from the Revdex.com list to inspect the roof and give their opinion as what needed to be done to correct the problem which we could both agree on.
I then took it upon myself to find a third party roofer to inspect the roof and have him explain what needed to be done to correct the problem.
After inspecting the roof he said it had been done wrong and part of it would need to  be torn off to fix the leaks.
[redacted] stated he would not replace any of the roof and would not pay to have it done by a third party.
We have had more than the normal amount of rain this summer and the leaks were starting to ruin the ceiling inside my home, so I took it upon myself to hire this third party roofer to do the job right and get it done before rain damage took place. This added cost is something that I could not afford and has caused a loss of money that is needed for other expenses.
After tearing off the part of the roof that was leaking, more problems were found which would have eventually caused more unseen leaks that would have eventually rotted the decking.
[redacted] called me on the phone and accused me of harassing him,  I had already replaced the roof and he wanted me to tell him the name of the third party roofer and the cost.
I told [redacted] the name of the roofer and for him to call him directly so he could get the correct information as to why the roof was leaking and any other information about it, he was reluctant to do this.
The roofer called me a few days later and said [redacted] called him and asked him about the roof and he had explained to [redacted] what all the problems were with it.
Through all this back and forth with [redacted] and the Revdex.com this was the only time [redacted] ever called me concerning the roof.
Through no help from [redacted] the roof is now fixed properly and no longer leaks, now I need to get the ceiling plaster damage repaired.
The roofer that did the job the right way even  called back to see that everything was OK, something [redacted] never did after replacing the roof the first time, I believe its called "Follow Up Customer Service".

In response to complaint,

Yes we tore off and replaced shingles on said customers roof,  And yes after first rain customer called and said it showed signs of leaking. The first visit I looked at the roof and the area where it could be leaking. On...

the second visit myself and an employee chalked the 2 skylights. After it was chalked I did not hear back from said customer. As far as me telling customer it was fixed, I would not have said that. I would've said we chalked what we think it is, and if you have any issues give me a call and we will take care of the problem. And as I already stated I did not hear back from customer.
Anytime customer called weather it was befor, during or after we roofed or chalked the skylights his calls were returned in a timely matter. As far as asking to use customers ladder that's hear say, if I remember correctly he had a ladder already leaning on the roof. or could have offered the use of his ladder.
The skylights were not replaced when the roof was reroofed.  When we were removing old shingles and installing new shingles i suggested to customer removing or replacing both skylights. Both skylights showed signs of leaking in the past.  customer did not wanna replace skylights and said if they become an issue in the future he was going to replace or remove both skylights because they had both been an issue of leaking on a number of occasions in the past..
Befor I bid the job customer showed me inside where the skylights had leaked on a number of occasions in the past, and at that time I suggested replacing or removing both skylights because they had been an issue on a number of occasions in the past.
We chalked the skylights upper seal where it meets the glass on our second visit, and chalked where the skylight and shingle meet.  the reason for chalking the glass seal was because the seal looked aged and cracked.  And also at either the first or second visit the customer stated I should or should have just removed the skylights.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]

I was never told that the sky lights should be replaced and yes there was some leakage around them, that is part of the reason for replacing the roof, and I was told the new roof would fix the problem. I had mentioned that maybe they should be removed if he couldn't stop the leakage, but was told the new roof would take care of the problem, I was never told they were old and needed to be replaced, they were only 10 years old, you don't replace sky lights every 10 years,  also this does not account for the numerous other leaks that keep appearing every time it rains.
I now have damage in other parts of the house from water leakage which will cost me more money to fix, when your retired and living on a fixed income this can be hard to come by.

I am in the process of having other roofers look over the problem and they can't believe what they see, they are telling me it can't be fixed the way it was installed and needs to be removed and replaced and done right. Other roofers have found numerous nails popping up through the shingles, and this is only after two years, this was suppose to be a 20 -30 year roof, not two years.

As far as the ladder goes, it was not already out and leaning against the house, he asked when he called if I had one he could use and I furnished  one for him.

As far as calling him back after his last visit, he said he would check with me the following week and he never did, I figured it was just another case of taking the money and run.

I don't want him back on my property just to do some more caulking that will not fix the problem, I don't need more inferior work done at my expense, maybe I can find someone who knows how to do a roof that doesn't leak.
Regards,
[redacted]
