Mark Tirondola Painting Contractor, Inc. Reviews (2)

Review: After I signed the contract and gave a $630.00 deposit, many concerns about the company surfaced. Within the specific time as per the contract I notified the company with a letter of cancellation. The letter was mailed certified return, receipt requested; I received confirmation that it was received and signed by the company within the 3 business of the signed contract.

Contract states deposit will be returned within 30 days. I have emailed and called numerous times, each time I am told the check will be mailed out.

The deposit was due June 3, 2014.

After an email was sent June 15 I received a reply email on June 16 that the they would again mention this to the owner. 2 weeks prior to the June 16 th email I called about the deposit was told they were a week behind on signing checks but they were mailing out my check that week.

This is very frustrating and seems to me Mr Tirondola has no intention to return my deposit.Desired Settlement: I would like my deposit refunded and be done with his company.

Response:
This job was done in and everytime we received a call from them one of our head foremen as well as the foreman of the crew have touched base with themWe have not had any calls from these customers recentlyThe first item they did not tell you is that since he was a service man, he asked if we could do something about the priceWe did, we gave him a reduce price which was explained to him that we would just do some minor repairs, replace the sheet rock in the area of the ceiling that was damaged not the complete ceilingThe contract clearly states that we will prepare and paint onlyThere is no mention of any skim coatingAs far as getting a response only if they email, that is not trueWe do tell customers to send us an email with the punch list so we can have it in hand when we go to the house to do the touch upsWe tried to accommodate these customers but it was next to impossibleThe foreman of this job has been with our company for years and he also said that there was no pleasing themMr [redacted] told Victor, our head foreman, that he only wanted to clean the house up and was not looking for the top of the line jobIt was his mother's house and he wanted to turn around and sell itAs far as getting paint all over as they indicated, we would not be in business for over years it that is the kind of work we doWe clean up each and every day and we do a total clean up at the end of the jobWe will not agree to pay them any moneyWe will consider it a wash by them keeping the balance that is owed to us

Response:
I am rejecting this response because: Whoever responded was not informed correctly of the situationThe color of the exterior paint was incorrect, we had to ask for a sample of new color before proceeding with jobWe were told by Victor that this was to be done as regular practice, I had to request it when they had primed the house a baby blueIncorrect colorAt the time of the estimate, we met with Victor, we told him areas that were extremely important to us were exterior paint job replacement of living room ceilingWe also requested item by item costs of work in other rooms of the houseWe were looking at perhaps having them do more work, based on the fact I have herniated discs in my back and my husband was unable to lift and bend too muchWe agreed upon wall paper removal in the master bedroom and in the dining roomPainting of all wall surfaces in dining room, living room, bedrooms, bathroom and a full repair of powder roomCeiling in dining room to be sanded and skim coated for repair, and ceiling in hall off the kitchen, ceiling in bedroomWhat we received - as Victor has extensive notes on - was a full out nightmareThe powder room was done slopping skim coating all over sink, commode, floor and mop boardThis room Victor told us he would completely take care of, well there is an area where there was no skim coat and just mesh showing on wall, side of radiator was not painted, areas that have no paint on themA crack that appeared after first heating seasonWhen questioning cleaning up and damage we were put off every time, told it would be done at the endThen when the end came the excuse was "its old damage" not any we did, or it will get cleaned upNever happenedI had to scrap skim coat off the commode, floor, sink, and I couldn't believe how brand new mop board was left - pulled from wall and scrapped up where the skim coat was removedI asked the Site Supervisor if this would be acceptable in his home, no answer - he then said he would replace it - Never didPaint splatters on hard wood floors in several other rooms, and on the carpet in the living room (which we replaced anyway)I questions one of the workers when they did not have the floor covered and was rolling paint onto the wall, he just said yes, yes and kept painting without floor protectionHe also flipped the top of a paint can onto the hardwood floor then moved the shelf unit back over itWe tried to stay on top of what was happening vs what we were told by Victor would happenWhen there was a discrepancy we would call to verify what was to be doneWe took pictures from start to finish on this job can provide them at requestWe were given excuses many times when we just asked a questionThe other problem we encountered was language barrier sometimes the workers understood what we were asking other times notThe ceiling became a major problem, we had the site supervisor out and requested it be fixed, as this was one item of major importanceFinally he gave up and said this is the best job they can doMy husband was very saddened that this was such poor workmanshipHe was very taken back that what Victor said was not what actually happenedSo I asked would it be a resolution to call in a person who does drywall and only drywall to look at the job and get another opinionThe Job Supervisor was very upset about that idea and started to get short with meHe leftI decided to call and arrange a meeting with the owner of the Tironodola to get his opinionI called and was told I had a meeting with the owner and date and timeWhen the date and time arrived the owner did not show up but Victor didDuring this meeting Victor had told us he didn't know what he was going to walk into - but he was surprised that we didn't throw him out but we went over weeks of nightmareAt this meeting Victor told us he was to blame as he communicated that they were to work quickly and not bother usHe agreed to replace the ceiling and agreed it was not rightThe ceiling was replaced and it's great now, if only the first crew leveled it in the first placeWe met with Victor about clean up and last minute items, he told us then that he told the Job Supervisor to just tell us we owed no more money before the ceiling was replace and that supervisor lied once again to usVictor assured me clean up would be done, yet to date it hasn't been doneThe screen door to the screen porch was damaged by the paint crew who kept closing it when the paint was still not dryIt stuck and chipped, then started to peelHardware for things the crew removed from the exterior of the house was lost, nails to the house numbers (we replaced and put back up on the house) the clamps on the down spouts and other nails and screwsWhen I was sitting in the backyard watching my dogs, I asked the one of the crew why they were not putting up some of the things they removed they said they can't find the hardwareThey took it off we did not, so why are we being stuck with another repair billI don't believe we were being difficult, I believe that we were as generous and nice to work with - we provided drinks, breakfast, and other items as needed to the painters for weeksThey used a can of paint we had to pay double for, we didn't complain we just asked that they replace it for usNever doneThen I paid for that paint a second timeI was to be left with quart samples of paint in every room yet none was left for one of the bedrooms and I was then charged for it when I needed it for touch upWe asked to used the taller ladders to change the light bulbs in the security lights, the supervisor told us he would change the bulbsWe had to replace a security light due to damage, too high for us to damageYes we were given a military discount, with the comment it's something they should continue to offer customersYes some of the crew went above and beyond trying to accommodate our questions, but that is their jobWe only asked when there was a difference in the work being done vs what Victor told us would be doneI think that is just saving everyone time by not having to redo a jobI had to have the wall in the powder room repaired as I finished the wall with wall paperIt cost me $cashMop boards were replaced in the powder room when new flooring was put in, cost $additionalThe one bedroom was never painted and we were charged $for that roomI have done over a hours of clean up of paint, skim coat my time is worth something $28.00/hr is still cheaper then you pay your crewThis was not damage I did it was damage your company did by lack of careThere was never a time we told Victor that we wanted less than par job done on this house because we were selling it, we told him we wanted it to be move in ready and looking good for the saleI did not expect to have paint splattered in just about every room, skim coat mess to clean up or having to figure out where and what hardware needs to be purchased to keep down spouts on the house when they already had clamps installed and were removed and lost by your crewTo answer your comment about us not contacting you lately - I called Victor in November - left a message, called a week later - left a message - called a week later left a message - called a week later left a message - called the next day left a message, called daily for a week until Gabby didn't know what to say anymoreFinally she called me back, said the balance on our account was too high for just a clean up and that I needed to pay somethingI requested a billing - never received oneGabby said Victor instructed her to tell me to e-mail himI emailed himI received not one response from VictorIn Feb my husband was diagnosed with cancerFrom that point on Monday - Friday Chemo/Radiation Treatments, - June Surgery, Sever Infection that almost went septic, follow up chemo - December Surgery #now finally recovered enough for me to try to tie up loose ends so we can go back home when he is strong enough to travelWe tried to contact you - NO RESPONSEWe have had to do much of the work you promised us would be done as part of the job we paid for, we not only paid for it, we ended up doing it ourselvesOur outcome has not changed due to the circumstances and your company not responding and forcing us to have to take other routes to close out this job
