Markhoff & Mittman, PC

The firm is negligent in representation. As a client, I was wronged by a former attorney that submitted documents to the WCB that were irrelevant to the case and of issues that did not have to do with my accident. I explained this to Mr. Daniel El[redacted] of Markhoff and Mittman. His response to my concerns were that (a) I was not severely injured even though I had a torn meniscus among other injuries requiring surgery, (b) the documents were substantial evidence and could not be refuted, (c) there was no need to request medical records since these records were submitted, and (d) he did not have my confidence; therefore, he was releasing my claim.

After this transpired via email and over the phone, I encouraged him to request the extensive medical records of proof of injuries and he adamantly refused. He refused to investigate and to represent me rightfully and justly. Mr. El[redacted] pretended to release my claim so that I would not contact him anymore about my concerns. On one of the hearings Mr. El[redacted] firm decided to send him to represent me because he was going to receive payment for funds due to me. I did not appear as he had released me as a client and he was not my attorney. However, he arrived and spoke on my behalf before the WC Law Judge without consenting with me and caused further damage to my claim.

Mr. El[redacted] spoke to me in a condescending manner when explaining to him the damages that were done prior to his representation. I asked if he could help me rectify this situation and get the money I deserved and his response was that he did not have my confidence. I contacted the head attorney to express my concerns and no one returned my calls to explain or help me in my adverse situation. This firm does not represent clients and when they find that the case is too difficult or complicated then they abandon the client to fend for themselves. The client is left with a losing claim and the family is left without any funds or any means to live on. I have rent arrears of over 4,000.00 because I was only living on 346.00 for a household of two. I could not use this to pay rent and provide for my family.

Markhoff & Mittman subjected me to financial hardships and to unforeseen legal and financial difficulties. A firm should be held accountable legally for these damages and should not be allowed to violate the professional code of ethics and conduct legally. No one is above the law. The firm falsely advertises their services and clients are left with complicated legally matters. I have not received any funding since July **, 2015 and have lived on very little funds. This firm should be investigated and the cases audited for violations.
