I am rejecting this response because: The Dr office did not disclose the patient's responsibility clearlyThe paperwork that was signed was not explained fully and was rushed into itMy son was called into the exam room and started the procedure even before the paperwork were all signedI was under the impression that the exam was under our medical insurance and only resppnsible for a small deductibleBut it turned out the insurance did not covered that exam which the Dr office should have known and acknowledge us before going forward

In response to your letter, you were originally seen for the first time in our office for a medical eye exam on June 29, 2016. Your...

son, [redacted], was seen for the first time as well for a routine eye exam. Your son’s exam was covered through your vision insurance. It was recommended by the doctor for [redacted] to come back for a full medical eye exam. Originally you were not seen for a routine eye exam because the doctor deemed it necessary to do further testing to check for any issues. On September 2, 2016 you spoke to the office manager and stated you would not be able to pay the balance in full. At that time, we offered to set you up with a monthly payment plan but you declined. We are participating in-network providers with your insurance company of [redacted] Unfortunately, the exams were covered by your insurance company but the deductible was not met yet. After reviewing your Explanation of Benefits, it clearly stated that the balances listed for you and your son were applied towards the deductible. On your first visit, we provided you with patient registration forms which you signed, for you and your son, acknowledging that you are responsible for any out of pocket costs including copays and deductibles. The office is not responsible to know your insurance coverage and you are ultimately responsible for any balances due. In conclusion, we will be happy to set you up with a monthly payment plan to resolve this issue and ease any financial burden. We appreciate hearing from our patients as their comments are vital for us to continue improving our services.
