Review: Purchased a 1998 Buick Riviera in good faith after speaking to a salesman. He said the car ran "perfectly" and there was "not a scratch" on it. The vehicle was shipped to me after reassurances that the title was in hand, and would be sent with the vehicle if the shipper was "small" (as opposed to a big semi packed with cars). Title was not sent with the shipper, even though he was very "small" (could only haul 3 cars at most). Took 3 weeks total, after numerous calls and emails (many of which were not returned), to finally get my title. It turns out there was a lien on the title, which I was NOT informed of when I purchased the vehicle. They simply said "we don't send the title before shipping" in order to buy some time to hide the lien.

Also they offered a "$200 gas rebate when you buy a car from us." However I was not sent ANY forms regarding the rebate, nor has anyone mentioned it ever since I paid for the car.

Also as for "not a scratch," it has the most scratched, chipped, dirty paint I have ever seen in a vehicle. It looks as if it was washed with steel wool.

The worst part, though, is the fact that the engine "threw a rod" within 3 weeks of receiving the vehicle. There was clearly "rod knock" when I received the vehicle and any mechanic with a little experience could have heard it. The car cost $4000; my new engine cost $4500. Plus when my mechanic had a look over it, he pointed out other things that were cheaply done (such as using the wrong battery). This is the most dishonest dealership with which I have ever had the displeasure of doing business.Desired Settlement: The $200 rebate is a pitance compared to the money I have sunk into this car because of their dishonesty and the general pain in the butt this has been.

Response:

All she had to do was ask for it. The $200 Gas rebate card was sent to customer 5/22/2014.

Review: I bought the car on September 7, 2011 and this morning (9/11) the engine was completely blown according to the car dealership after I had it towed there.Desired Settlement: I believe the engine should be repaired for free and not for the $600 which they are trying to charge me. Another solution would be to give me the full purchase price of the car towards the cost of a new car.

Business

Response:

This car was sold absolutely AS-IS, customer drove the car before buying and signed all the necessary papers acknowledging the

sale was AS-IS. The car developed a water hose leak and customer drove the car until the engine seized instead of stopping and addressing the leak.

The breakdown was her responsibility but in the interest of good customer elations we inspected the car and advised her and her father of the situation. We offered to trade for

another vehicle of equal value for $600 more or we would replace the engine at a cost of $1200 of which we would pay for half and she would pay for half. She elected

to repair the vehicle, gave us a deposit of $100 towards the repair and the vehicle is being repaired as I am writing this.

As far as we are concerned the complaint is resolved today 9/11/2013.

If you require any further information or documentation please reply at once. We DO NOT ever, under any circumstances, fail to immediately resolve any of your

concerns regarding our customers. Our record with your bureau confirms that.

I am rejecting this response because:

The info received in the response is inaccurate. I understand an as is car is just that however a working engine is essential to a car being a car. I was provided with two options and choose the lesser of two evils (least costly) of the dealers suggested resolutions. The first indication that there was a problem was 15 minutes into my commute on Monday morning. A car shouldn't overheat/seize 4 days after purchase. The dealer claims to replace the engine it's 1200 and he will only charge me 600 and he won't even give a warranty on the work because. My only other option was to trade the car I. For 1000 less than I paid for it and risk getting a car in worse condition or just take a 2000 loss completely. All three options sucked. It was an I'm offering you something type of situation and be grateful. I didn't have any input into a desired solution and just had to pick a solution that was solely based on the dealer's say. Now I'm taking another risk by charging the full 600 yesterday not a 100 deposit as indicated in the response. I also pulled over as soon as there was a visible indication that there was a problem. I'm also concerned that now that I have issued a complaint my work might not be up to par and other mechanical issues might arise due to the breakdown in communication and this Revdex.com complaint.

Response:

The car was sold absolutely AS-IS. That means the buyer accepted the car in the

condition it was at the time the money change hands. The original price was

$2275, we allowed a deduction of $475 towards future repairs for a net sale

price of $1800. She also signed a waiver of dealer's responsibility to pass NJ

Inspection. This is all spelled out very clearly on the sales order and

the accompanying Federal Buyers Guide that the buyer signed, copies of

which are attached. Being as we already allowed her $475 towards future repairs

the amount she is "out of pocket" is only $125.00

The engine was replaced with another used engine as agreed. The customer took

the car and later complained of a few issues with the new engine. We advised

her to bring the car back and we would correct what ever was necessary. She

refuses to do so stating she prefers to sue us instead. We are still willing to

address any new issues she has with the engine exchange, even to the extent of

getting another engine if necessary, should she choose to change her mind.

Review: We purchased a boat through [redacted] after calling and asking questions reguarding the bid and [redacted] told us it was water tested and ready to launch taking the owners word that it was this was launch ready and we are 4 hours away so we made a bid and won it drove up there and took the word of the owner and made the deal and he insisted on all paperwork it was as-is but ready to go boating,he even convinced my wife to leave positive feedback on [redacted] that it was a good deal, our feedback has since been retracted. So we put the boat overboard for the first time Saturday August 9th and it ran 15 minutes 0 oil pressure when on the throttle, idled into marina and put on trailer and called them immediately he dilly dallyed around with his employee [redacted] and get back to me on monday he will see what the charity that owns it would say, funny I called today 8/11 at 1:30 and said charity would do nothing and he only makes 10 percent and asked me if I would settle for a couple hundred bucks after we paid Marlboro Motors $3300.00 and I said I went on your word he replied my word means nothing the ironic part is if you call the [redacted] in Marlboro New Jersey which is next door he answers the phone. I cannot believe he can fraudulently pull this off, plus when doing the paperwork he even signed the paperwork and signed the notary's name at the same time I should have known from that.I would like to also tell you the trailer was a major issue as well I was given a home made trailer registration and the trailer is a loadrite and after the [redacted] State Police Unit checked it out the DMV finally stamped the number of the homemade on the trailer, aside from those two problems the steering doesnt work right as well and we feel we have been totally ripped off and his excuse is my word doesnt mean anything wow I have never been told that by anyone my entire life I bellieve his whole operation is a sham.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund without a hastle over selling a piece of junk fraudulently listed and not what it was supposed to be!Thanks

Response:

Boat was sold on 7/25/14. At the time of sale the engine ran fine and was operating correctly. It was videoed running and the buyer fully inspected the boat before

paying for it. The listing and sales order clearly stated that the boat was being sold as-is where-is. The buyer was satisfied and left a positive feedback.

Two weeks later the buyer called and said engine had no oil pressure. My mechanic and I both spoke to him to tried to help. Buyer stated

that he was a race car mechanic and his diagnosis was that the oil pressure switch had failed. When the boat left here it had oil pressure; the video

confirms that (if pressure was bad valves would have been clacking loudly). We were discussing a resolution when he called back and stated that there was water

in the oil and that the exhaust manifold and riser was bad. I told him the boat was clearly sold as-is but in the interest of good customer relations I offered

to give him money towards the repair or send him the parts as he was a race car mechanic and fully capable of replacing them. He reused saying he wanted to

return the boat. I told him that was not possible and he became beligerant and said he would file a claim with [redacted] He then withdrew his positive feedback, went to [redacted] the Revdex.com and now to you to stop payment on his non refundable deposit.

This boat was sold as-is; he is alleging that I "guaranteed" the boat was ready to launch when in fact it was my observation and so stated along with the fact that it was an as-is where is

sale which he conveniently fails to recognize.

The buyer fully inspected this boat before paying. He states that he is a race car engine builder so I am certain he is qualified to do a thorough inspection. So whatever happened to this boat happened 2 weeks after the as-is sale. Full documentation is attached.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:Number 1 I did not get beligerant I have 15 witnesses from the [redacted]l Distric hear what he said as my phone was on speaker phone laying on the desk and If you read his claim it was ready to launch and is nothing what was stated and his mechanic started the engine before I left with no water hooked up one of the absolute number one no no's of a boat mechanic so it is to the point he must not be that much of a mechanic because anyone who knows anything about a boat knows you dont do that.

I have come to the conclusion that it is ok to be a crook so its ok but I can promise I will let everyone I know from New Jersey about this!I wish him luck in screwing more people over and now we know why he is not a member of Revdex.com because he would not last 5 minutes because of claims against him so thanks for your help and as far as a video of it running on land with a hose hooked to it is far from on the water and a actual test and all marine dealers here in [redacted] do water test them on the river and bays you can ask any.
