Having explained this to the patient, our treatmentcoordinator then reviewed fees based on insurance coverage and gave the patient the optionto start. Having gone over a written treatment plan explained cost and financial patientresponsibility, the patient agreed and consented to do half the mouth of the deep cleaning andirrigation. It is essential to clean and irrigate to help flush out bacteria and reduce level ofbleeding. We would not do one without the other for lack of insurance coverage.Therefore the hygienist then completed the treatment and asked that we schedule tofinish the remaining side. As for the difference in cost, I personally did verify the amountcharged was correct with the insurance company. The patient copay per quadrant is $25, andour irrigation fee is $75 per quadrant. The total of the visit including a comprehensive exam, xraysand 2 quadrants of deep cleaning with irrigation totaled to $200. Review: I had a dental procedure (deep cleaning) at this dentist ([redacted], DDS). They told me it would cost $200. The dentist first told me that I could not have a standard cleaning (which is all I wanted) as it would be "unethical" for her to perform a standard cleaning. I had to have a deep cleaning. The procedure was very simple and only involved applying a topical anesthetic (free under my insurance) and scaling of the teeth. It took about 15-20 minutes. After the procedure, I checked with my insurance company who told me that the procedure should have only cost $50. I complained to the dentist office who told me that they checked with the insurance company which told them that the charges are correct. I phoned the insurance company again and they said that they never received a call or claim from the dentist office. This is a scam. They are trying to charge me for procedures they never performed which they claimed are not covered by insurance. I checked online for reviews of this dentist and found numerous similar complaints about this dentist.I filed a complaint with my credit card company and with the insurance company.Desired Settlement: Refund to my credit card the $150 overcharge.
