Marrins Mooving is by far the best moving company I have ever used! My husband and I have moved a lot and have had used many different moving companies. I have never been so impressed. The assessment and walk through was extremely helpful, professional, and considerate of all the strange things we had to move! We had confirmation calls to confirm arrival times, and they asked us if we needed anything at all to help with the packing materials.
The real experience comes on moving day though, right? It's a stressful time and you are just hoping that everything go smoothly. A crew of 5 guys showed up, right on time at 8:30 in the morning (two trucks for us) all smiles, professional, and incredibly friendly. They took such care with our belongings, wrapping and protecting everything. They worked liked crazy, moving quickly and efficiently. They were all an absolute pleasure and kept us all laughing and moving along. They were a great team! The crew made sure to ask if there was anything additional they could do, and were always willing to go the extra mile. They helped with washer/dryer hookup as well as assembling furniture. Our move was estimated to take 12 hrs, and it took these guys 7.5!
I highly highly recommend this moving company. They take care of their customers and are the most helpful and pleasant guys! They really make moving day a lot less stressful!

They billed me for services not performed based on their estimate of what was needed. Over inflated estimate and charged for refused insurance. On January 27, 2015, [redacted] came to my home to provide a quote for a move out and back in due to floors being redone because of water damage. I explained that we weren't sure when the work would begin or if I would have them include all the quoted items (I had bedroom furniture in my living room because we were selling it but we weren't sure if it would be sold by the time the work started). I also wasn't sure if I was going to have them move my piano out of the house or not. He explained a $125 charge for the piano is charged no matter where they move it because they always put them on a piano board. He provided a quote, which I didn't sign because I knew we might not need all the services as we discussed. We found out before the move, that we may move back in but not have the reconstruction complete so I sent an email asking [redacted] if we could remove the unpacking piece of the bill. He never responded to my request. The day of the move my husband was overseeing the move out. We did not discuss the quote details and he refused the extra insurance ($390). The lead employee provided my husband with a bill for $1,755.00. There was a detailed description of services used. We paid the billed amount by check. After a few hours, we received a call from Marrins saying they billed us incorrectly and we owed the full quoted amount. They said it was binding. I explained that they came out to quote the job in person and they didn't provide many of the services listed in the quote. I asked that they reconsider billing me for unused boxes. They quoted me for $764 worth of boxes and used only $318 but wanted to be paid for all the boxes on the original quote. In addition, when the movers arrived the construction crew had already moved the appliances out. The crew rolled the piano (no board) into another room in the house. The crew leader only charged $75 for the piano roll but when the co. called asking for the balance of the quote, I explained they didn't board the piano. The first person I spoke with said "it is binding" you owe the whole amount. I requested to speak with [redacted] since he had quoted the job and we had discussed things could be different on the day of the move. [redacted] and I spoke on 3/11. He said it was a binding agreement. I explained that I didn't sign anything because I knew we might change things, like the unpacking that I requested to remove from the job. He said he would take off the unpacking fee of $330 and the piano move because they didn't put it on a board like he described but the rest would be binding. I spoke with our acquaintance from church who is an owner as well. The fact that they were willing to remove some items but not others would appear that it is as binding as they want it to be. The consumer has no protection since they quoted me how many boxes it would take and how much time it would take to do the move. I originally didn't ask for any money back for the manual labor that wasn't used. They quoted $1320 for man hours for the move out but used $990. When the time came for the move back in, the crew, lead by [redacted], arrived and I was told I had to sign the documents and pay the amount on the bill (no details this time) for the balance or else they couldn't move my items back in. [redacted] was not given any authority to discuss my billing concerns. Ultimately, I wrote a check for the balance due of $2,267 (via check). On March 25, I sent an email to [redacted] to request he reconsider billing for services not rendered. I asked that they send me a check for the $854 in services and insurance that was not used by April 3rd. After additional information has been gathered about mover practices, I am asking that they reimburse me $1567. It would leave Marrins with the $1755 for services and storage rental which they completed on the move out and $1155 which was the original "Binded" quote for the move back in. I have copies of all the documentation if needed.Desired SettlementI am asking that they refund me $1,567.Business Response /[redacted]/Contact Name and Title: [redacted] Contact Phone: XXXXXXXXXXContact Email: [redacted]@marrinsmoving.comThis was a BINDING quote for packing of boxes, loading to storage, redelivery and unpacking of boxes. A guaranteed price was provided in the amount of $4,477.00 Do to this being an insurance claim, we bound the price per request of client. Customer agreed to this binding quote. During the course of the move customer asked us to move the piano in the house and not for us to store it and that she did not need unpacking services. These are single line items and did not have to be given back as they were part of the BINDING PRICE. As a courtesy Marrins Mooving removed these charges as to help the family out. The line item for the piano and unpacking services where removed. Customer now had a new BINDING quote of $4,022.00 and was charged exactly $4,022.00. It is of our opinion that the customer is trying to pocket as much money as possible from the insurance payout. Consumer Response /[redacted]/As mentioned before, please feel free to write the check to Erie Insurance. I have already spoken to my adjuster, [redacted] about the situation. Thank you for your assistance in resolving this situation. We will continue to pursue action through the Utilities Commission and Department of Justice of NC as I have concerns about consumer protection from similar situations.Final Business Response /[redacted]/We stand by our previous response. As a going beyond measure ,we have sent the customer a check for the value protection in the amount of $390.00We have confirmed with [redacted] at the NCUC that everything was done properly and in order. We wish the customer all the best.Final Consumer Response /[redacted]/(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.)Our hope is that individuals seeking moving services will learn from this experience. We appreciate that we had a big miscommunication and hope we both learned from the experience.

Marrin's did not move all of the items that they agreed to on the day of our move. We were told to move them ourselves or pay them extra. On April 2, 2014, a representative ([redacted] from Marrin's came to our home and estimated the weight of the items to be moved. He provided us a written, binding and guaranteed estimate to move all of the items in our home. We agreed to their estimate and contracted with Marrin's to do the move on May 17-18, 2014.At the end of the day of packing (May 17), we were told that the truck was full and that they would not be moving the rest of our items. Remaining items included: toolboxes, bicycles, power tools, outdoor umbrella and chairs, a desk, and several other bulky/unboxed items. We spoke with the dispatcher ([redacted]) who offered to take $100 off our move, but it will cost us much more than this to move the rest of the items ourselves. I spoke with our moving representative ([redacted] several times during the week of May 19-23 and tried to resolve the situation. [redacted] offered to move the rest of the items for $300 additional. This is unacceptable since we had already made an agreement to move all the items for the original estimated price. When I expressed this to [redacted], he suggested that the only possible way the truck wasn't large enough for everything was that we must have added items to the house. This is not true, in fact, we removed a couch and two living room chairs. So they were actually moving FEWER items than the original estimate included. He would not even consider the possibility that the estimate was wrong or the truck improperly loaded. We are very frustrated that we held up our end of the contract while Marrin's Movers did not. They did not move everything they agreed to, then accused us of adding items, lying about it, and then requested $300 more to complete the job. Desired SettlementWe would like Marrin's Movers to accept full responsibility for not completing our move. We have already moved most of the remaining items ourselves which has required two additional trips in my personal vehicle. We would like for Marrin's Movers to reimburse us for the mileage we have driven between Durham, NC and Wilmington, NC moving the rest of our items (2 trips, 320 miles round-trip, $0.56 per mile IRS standard mileage rate=$358.40).Business Response /[redacted]/This estimate we performed was very close to a solid filled truck. Unfortunately some items didn't make the trip. It was approximately 2 pick up truck loads of bulky items as stated to us by Mr. [redacted]. We offered to make the additional trip with these items for an additional $250. We felt this was a fair compensation for us, Along with an immediate resolution to the issue at hand. Mr. [redacted] refused to allow us to do this.Consumer Response /[redacted]/I have no additional information or requests. Marrin's is clearly not interested in making this situation right. I am still thoroughly confused how the agreement to move "everything" changed to "everything except two pick up truck loads and we want more money to move them". As for the May 30 response from Marrin's, yes, I absolutely refused to "allow" them to take additional payment from me to MOVE STUFF I ALREADY PAID THEM TO MOVE.I hope that future potential customers will be aware of this company's shady business practices. The movers themselves were on time, polite, and nothing was lost or broken. But be prepared to move some things yourself as [redacted]'s apparently under-estimates the job and then leaves the customer responsible for whatever they cannot move.Final Business Response /[redacted]/I am sorry that this customer feels this way. At times the types of items are bulky and can't be stacked and take up more room then anticipated. Keep in mind these are estimates and we have no control when things are added to the inventory, it may not be what happened in this case but it does happen. Also this does not happen often. When it does we strive to make every effort to solve the problem as we did in this caseFinal Consumer Response /[redacted]/(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)I do not accept this response as Marrin's continues to shift the blame to me. I give up.
