I contacted MMP with the expectation that they would provide me with a wedding service at either my location or theirsI suffer from agoraphobia, am bipolar, have an anxiety disorderI told Colleen(0wner and officiant)all of this in the course of our discussionsI also told her that my fiancé is in Australia and would be coming over on some kind of visa, so I may have to change the dateShe REPEATED told me "that is totally fine!!" She even said she would give my name and number to a former client who went through the K-1visa processI never heard from that person, despite my asking several timesAll of the congenialness seemed to fade not long after I gave her my $deposit and dates started to changeThe "that's totally fine" aspect went right out of the window after I changed twiceThe last straw was when my venue, the [redacted] , decided to cancel on meColleen called me on my cell and started absolutely RAVING about setting a date in stone, right at that VERY momentNo

July 16, 2016Dear [redacted]Regarding the above complaint ID #, please see below.[redacted] contacted me by text and telephone on April 12th, 2016. She was in need of wedding officiant services for an upcoming wedding she was planning. Normally, we provide one free, 30 minute no obligation...

consultation to go over how we do things and to address any questions, to couples who are shopping around for wedding officiant and photography services. In [redacted]'s case, we provided her with 3 consultations; the initial conversation via text, then a phone call and then a [redacted] meeting — each lasting more than 30 minutes. After the [redacted] conference, [redacted] and [redacted] decided to secure our services with a $207 non-refundable retainer fee deposit. When the deposit was placed, we reserved [redacted]'s wedding date and also began to provide her our services to help her plan her wedding ceremony. We had numerous conversations with [redacted] via text, telephone and email. [redacted] had lots of questions for us and we gladly addressed all of her questions to the best of our ability. When [redacted] began to start changing her wedding date, that's when problems arose. Due to the nature of our business, and that Marry Me Philadelphia is a highly recommended and utilized vendor, scheduling changes cannot always be accommodated as we may be booked with another wedding reservation. Even so, we were able to accommodate all of [redacted]'s changes but did let her know that we could not continue to keep changing the date and guarantee our availability.[redacted] was vey upset about this — even though we were working with her and were still able to accommodate her changes. [redacted] became very upset, irate even, when her wedding venue — [redacted], canceled on her due to all the changes that she made. We let [redacted] know that there were other places she could host her wedding, including our space, and that we would try to find a mutual date that worked for everyone (her, her guests, our photographer and my availability).During our last telephone call, [redacted] asked me if she could get her deposit back. I advised her again that all deposits are non-refundable, especially at this point because of all of the work we had done for her in addition to the multiple reservations. [redacted] received another call and placed me on hold while she spoke to the [redacted] about the cancellation. When she returned to the line, she was vey angry and took her anger out on me, stating that we weren't trying to work with her and that she was having a panic attack. She then hung up the phone on me.After that, I did not hear anything back from her until I received a dispute in [redacted] (see enclosed documentation). [redacted] review the claim and sided in my favor.I spoke with my photographer, the [redacted] and [redacted] about the situation. Each party had similar circumstances and found [redacted] very difficult to work with.Since 2012, Marry Me Philadelphia has provided excellent service to clients in the area. We have 150+ wonderful online reviews, we won the Best Officiant award 3 years in a row and we are the house officiant services for several well-known venues and hotels in Philadelphia such as [redacted] Event group, Hotel [redacted], the [redacted], etc.We strive for excellence and this issue with [redacted] is isolated. Since we reserved multiple wedding dates for [redacted] (turning down potential clients for those dates and losing business) and provided her with meetings and planning assistance, we will not issue a full refund. I will offer to issue a partial refund of $7 (shipping fee) since we did not ship [redacted]'s marriage license.[redacted]'s complaint letter is misleading, false and quite plainly an attempt to defame the reputation of my business because her wedding did not go as planned. Please see attached supporting documentation.Sincere regards,Colleen M.Owner & Officiant
