If you review the numerous correspondences, you will see that my questions were not addressed by the clinic. I was not given specifics or explanation about the "level 4, $office visit." This is a violation of the clinic's Patient Rights statement, which states that patients are entitled to "receive an explanation of the bill." Since this information was not obtained through the Revdex.com correspondences, I subsequently wrote again directly to the clinic. Attached is a recent response by Dr. ***

I was recently informed that Marshfield's would no longer comment regarding this matter. I was advised by Revdex.com that I could make a final entry. Therefore, my summary comments are as follows: Marshfield's initially declined to give me the information I had requested, instead, repeatedly providing generic coding related comments and information. Finally, they did address some specifics to my medical visit. However, it still behooves me that there can be over a $charge for four non-emergency stitches. Every other clinic I subsequently checked with would have charged me less and said they very possibly would not have required a separate office visit charge for such a minor injuryWithout more specifics from Marshfield's, I feel as though I have been taken advantage of and been over-chargedThis experience with Marshfield's contributes to the high and unaffordable costs of medical related services in this country. This matter continues to be unresolved. I will investigate further action through the Bureau of Consumer Protection.

Response from Dr***: Good afternoon Revdex.com representatives, Marshfield Clinic asks you to recognize that we have made many attempts to answer Mr***’s questions. So much so that his most recent letter only offers his personal opinion regarding CPT coding rules (that the work we performed was insignificant, in direct conflict with every CPT coding guideline). His continued discussion of what others have billed or speculate that they would have billed continues to be irrelevant to his care at Marshfield Clinic. This has come around full circle to the point where it started, he appears to wish to consume services and then pay what he wishes, rather than our fees. As I stated in my final letter, we have acted in good faith providing him care and in answering his questions. I would appreciate Revdex.com closing this concern noting that we have in good faith answered Mr***’s questions Brandon *** *** *** ***

Thank you for the
authorization, I am now able to respond to the concern regarding date of service 6/9/16. Mr***'s insurance policy is out of network with Marshfield Clinic; therefore his personal balance is higher than if he would have been in network. On one of his contacts with Marshfield Clinic he stated that the care was not appropriate. The care was reviewed by our patient experience department and the care was deemed appropriate. Mr*** was informed the care was appropriate. When a patient contact customer service, the caller is asked to verify their address and their date of birth, he would refuse to verify and he would end the call. H has been referred to financial assistance and an attempt of a call was made on 11/23/and a letter was mailed on that date also. He needs to respond to the letter for assistance.Sincerely,Kathy ***

I am not sure what Ms*** means by "tell us why here." My goal is to understand why there was a separate office visit charge for the minor procedure that was done. As already stated, I had significantly more stitches (approxthree times as many) recently at a different clinic. The subsequent charge there was for the stitches and no separate/additional office visit fee. I would like thorough justification explaining the additional $office visit cost I suspect the additional office visit fee was unnecessaryI do not believe that Marshfield's has made an attempt to truly investigate if this was the case. If Ms*** needs me to explain more, I will address any specific questions

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.I do not know if Revdex.com considers Ms***'s last comment a reply, or if a response is expected from Mr*** within the ten day period With the Revdex.com's latest request for me to respond within ten days, I am now doing so, indicating that I reject Marshfield's last reply In summary, I had a small cut on my forehead, decided to go to Marshfield Clinic several hours later, and ended up with an excessive bill of over $for four non-emergency stitches

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.Marshfields gave me a phone number in writing stating I was to call * *** *** *** for further information on the fees I was charged. As was stated in my previous correspondence, I tried repeatedly to call, but had no success. I repeated back to Marshfields the number I had called, but they did not comment on it. I then just stumbled across information that indicates they had given me the wrong number It appears as if the numbers should instead be If they would have given me accurate information, it would have saved much time.I have contacted several other clinics and of those, Marshfields had the highest rate for the services I received. There is nothing I can do about thatSome of the clinics said it was possible that an office visit charge would not have been necessary for stitches this minor. When I had my much more serious stitches previously at a *** ***, there was no office visit fee, just the code charge for the stitches That leads me back to the questions I asked in my November correspondence. Questions #2 asked for the reasons I have been charged for the $office visit. I would appreciate knowing the justification for that fee I have repeatedly asked for the contact information for Marshfields director and board of directors If this is not going to be given to me, please just say so and why so I can stop requesting. At present, I am waiting for an email back from AMA about how to file a complaint with them
